Some of y’all are underestimating just how good Chase Young is. The reason they’re shopping him is he’s indicating he’s not staying there long term. He’s what you hope Thibideaux or Hutchinson become. Dude is a flat out monster. If you can get him and 2 1s for Deshaun that’s somewhat of a steal.
Nice! Initial bid is in and while its a bit light, it certainly has the kind of name we're looking for. I think this alleged initial offer is a great starting point for us. Potential all-star young player (#2 pick in 2020), 11th and 42nd pics in 2022 and a 3rd 2023. Caserio wants 5-6 assets, that's 4 and arguably Young could be considered worth 2 by himself. If they add a 2023 1st and another sweetener (pick or player) that's starting to sound more like it. However, there will be other teams that want to get into the mix if Watson's legal problems are resolved. Which leads me to the below analogy. I rehab houses as a side gig. Some I sell and reinvest in other properties, others I rent. If I use that perspective, DW was once a mansion, but some shity tenants trashed it and now I have a decision to make... - Opt 1: Rehab and maintain the investment as a rental - Opt 2: Rehab and sell to the highest bidder and reinvest those assets into new assets - Opt 3: Don't rehab and get what I can without investing more time/effort into the asset I know this isn't a perfect example and I don't like comparing people to assets, but the analogy still rings true (at least for me). In DW's case, I see Opt 2 as the only path forward. The problem with this part of the analogy is that DW holds the cards on a major part of the rehab--settling the cases or attempting to clear his name in court. Until this is completed, we won't get max value for him. We could select Opt 3 as some suggest (if he agrees to the trade) and then let the new team worry about the situation. I can see the appeal, especially when a name like Chase Young is thrown out there, but he's coming off an ACL and last year wasn't close to as appealing as his rookie season. Makes me wonder, is he damaged goods? I don't think either side is for Opt 1 and him staying, so that one won't work. Bottom line for me is that this is an extremely interesting and truly unprecedented situation. It's a made for TV movie unfolding before our eyes and while I hate drama, I love intrigue and how Caserio masterminds or undermines this situation will be a story worth following.
Reporter: So deshaun, why the Washington commanders? Watson: it was an obvious choice. I saw that soft core porno they made without any of the girls knowing. And Snyder told me the training staff all have to sign NDAs Reporter: wow… Watson: it’s Cummanders btw, you gotta emphasize the c*m. Reporter: your penis is on my hand
If Chase Young is included, I'd still want 2 FRPs. I want a bidding war, though. So many teams that need a QB.
It’s a good thing some of these people here aren’t the GM. They make Bill Obrien look like a competent GM.
Chase Young, a first this year, a first next year, and 41. With our first, you can take Thibideaux. With theirs, you take BPA. I'd take Dean or Stingley or the corner from Cincy if they were available. If not, I'd take a WR. Can you imagine how quickly that would rebuild the defense? In the second, you hope to take a top flight running back and maybe a wide receiver or some secondary depth. Hit on those picks, and there's actually some optimism around this pitiful franchise.
A) Chase Young will be up for a new contract in 2 years. You are stripped of 2 years of a rookie deal. B) He's coming off an ACL injury, i guess, whatever. I could live with that C) He hasn't proven yet that he is really all that good. The early returns scream Jadeveon Clowney. I think there is a chance he's the best D lineman in the game in 2-3 years, but it's nowhere near a slam dunk at this point.
I need more. Throw in another second and 2 3rd round picks and I'd consider it. Chase Young doesn't move the needle for me like WAS would want it to. We aren't getting a rookie CY with 4 years of a rookie deal. If WAS doesn't like it, fine, go off the deep end trading for Wilson or Rodgers (if either actually want to go there), or strike out on all 3 and have fun with another season of [insert avg. veteran QB] or Taylor Heineken
[Premium Post] I'm taking the deal with the Commandos. I stated this previously, but to win big in the NFL, you must have a top caliber LT, pass rusher, CB, and a good quarterback. Those are the positions where you need to invest your money. Chase Young gives you the pass rusher. Tunsil and/or draft options at 1.03 give us good coverage at LT. Davis Mills dramatically exceeded expectations at QB and may very well be the guy. Now find a CB through the draft or free agency (we have significant cap space) and I'm feeling really good about the future. GOOD DAY
Unfortunately you're probably correct. I'm beginning to get in line with fans who dont care about a trade return and start going after Watson's signing bonus.
