J.J. is more athletic and taller, but Jimmer's range is definitely better; I think Jimmer might be a slightly better ballhandler too.

how come everyone is only talking about JJ Reddick comparison and not the other JJ that just help win a championship for the Mavs.

IMO, I think Jimmer's game is a bit like JJ Barea. He's a scorer first. If Barea can make in this league as a key contributor in this league there is no reason why Jimmer cant. Jimmer already has a lot more going for him than Barea did when he came in the league.
THey are both undersized guards that can score. Jimmer will never be a all star player but he can be a very very good role player.

I guess no one watched the MWC finals with SDSU got physical with the Jimmer and he broke down like a biatch.

It's because something happens to people when the draft comes around, and they forget that most of the nba is devised of skilled players, not athletic freaks.

You could be dumb as rocks when it comes to BBIQ, but if you can jump high (Bismack) YOU automatically have more potential than a skilled shooter like Jimmer.

Basketball know how is always the last thing anybody looks at. Because playing basketball can be taught, they think. Athleticism can't be.

In college, I don't think Jimmer's range was more than JJ's. JJ would pull up and drill ridiculously long 3s on a regular basis at Duke. It just didn't carry over to the NBA. I have a feeling Jimmer's range won't either.

I bet the Utah GM prays every night that Jimmer gets taken before the 12th pick in the draft.

...there is no way Fredette turns into anything more than a fringe role player(at best) as a SG. He might end up being a rotational backup PG if he can play the PG role effectively but he's not going to cut it in the NBA as an undersized SG with no significant athletic advantage to most guys he would be playing against.

If you can shoot the 3 or if you're 7 feet tall you'll have a job in the NBA.

    THIS!!!!

Dirk is an amazing athlete and always has been

Which is why nobody at his position can guard him.

How much does dunking from the free throw line really come into play in a basketball game?

Since everyone compares him and his athleticism to J.J. Redick and Adam Morrison (not saying they should or shouldn't, don't care really.) I thought I would look up their draft combine times and measurements.

    Adam Morrison:

    J.J. Redick:

    Jimmer Fredette:

Jimmer has a better lane agility time (later movement for defense/quickness), 3/4 court sprint, bench press, and a hair better standing vertical (with a tied max vertical with Redick) than both J.J. and Morrison. Also, for a 6-6'1 ft guy, his wingspan is better than Redick's (his wingspan is actually shorter than his height) and despite J.J. being 6'4, Jimmer's standing reach is only slightly lower.

It looks like Jimmer is more athletic than both these guys, and definitely stronger than them at the time they were drafted. Not saying I want to draft him (I don't), but I do think he can make it in this league and at least could become a decent backup PG or three point specialist. (Maybe more, who knows?)

Probably a white JJ Redick if he lands with the Jazz. Possibly something more if he lands on a scrub team where he can play plenty of mins.

When people think of Jimmer, they think of his scoring because he is a great scorer. But not a lot of people realized that he is a capable facilitator. His distribution skills is decent enough for him to do well in the NBA. Though he is not athletic, with the right system and the right coach, he will do well in the NBA. He don't have to beat his man off the dribble everytime. He just have to be crafty and use his smarts to beat his man.

Jimmer Fredette = a white Jason Terry. He can come off the bench and be a scoring 6th man.
