http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,275009024,00.html? As for Anderson, who bolted Utah to play for much less money in Houston two seasons ago, the issue is tantalizing. Things have not exactly worked out with the Rockets, opening the door to the possibility of his return to the very city that Anderson's agent cited as one reason the swingman left. Anderson is opting out of the final year of a three-season deal with Houston, and the Jazz may just want him back. "We would look at him. But Salt Lake hasn't changed that much since he left," O'Connor said. "He would want to have to come back here. . . . But we would certainly look at that, and it's something we could do." I know Shandon would probably cross the Jazz off his list immediately. But, hypothetically, let's imagine if he would consider going back. Let's not forget, he did show the most promise of his career in the Jazz system. A week or two ago, there was an article in NBAtalk saying the Jazz were ready to blow up their team (the role players aspect) and rebuild around Stockton and Malone. If this is true, and Shandon would consider going back to Utah, would you go after Bryon Russell in a sign and trade, or let him walk? The question is interesting. Russell is one of our most hated guys, but he has a good three point stroke, is a solid defender, and has made some clutch buckets. He's definitely better than our options at the 3 right now. If Utah has a legit shot at Shandon, would you prefer him to walk or would you use up some of the capspace to get Bryon Russell here. Why are they going to bother around two guys who will not lead them to a championship and will be gone in a couple years? ------------------
Because they are one of the worst franchises in the history of professional sports. That team should have been blown up two years ago. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." It's back... Protrolls.com!
I agree with my colleague, the honorable Mr. Francis. Utah may want him, but I doubt they will rebuild around those two and I doubt Shandon would want to walk back into the same situation he begged out of three years ago. ------------------
i don't think so! ------------------ "They couldn't shoot, rebound, or pass, but other than that, they played great!" -Bill Walton
Hehe... that'd be tragic if Shandon had to "crawl" back to Jazzhole City. Quite tragic... ------------------ "Light travels faster than sound, so some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak." -- Brian Williams (now Bison Dele) commenting on Isiah Thomas.
First off: I wouldn't believe anything I read in the Deserted News, as a general rule. Second: I really don't see Shandon coming back to the land of the stinky lake, but I thought I might add this...a week or two ago, I was listening to sportstalk here in Salt Lake, and they were talking to O'Connor, I believe (though I can't be 100% positive). They asked him point blank if the same team they had this year would be able to contend next year. Normally, JazzGM is asked this every season, and the answer is inevitably yes every year. But O'Connor hesitated, and said "As things stand right now, I don't think so." THIS peaked my interest. So they pried (SP?) more deeply into what he was saying, and he clarified by saying something to the effect of, "When people are deciding whether or not to come to the Delta Center, they need to decide whether they're there to see the Jazz WIN or whether they're there to watch 'Great NBA Basketball.'" This sounded like a concession to me that it is going to be MAJOR rebuilding time shortly in Salt Lake. O'Connor is not an idiot, IMHO, and I don't think he's afraid to pull the trigger on a deal, like previous JazzGM. I know it's a BIT off-topic, but I've been trying to think of a way to work that in there. ------------------ Jazzkiller
