I don't get yo_yo's ragging on your game, lol. You may be a little uncoordinated, but you have fair amount of assets to your game that makes your team better.

i think you've got a pretty good vertical. i, on the other hand, have to compensate for my lack of a vertical with my girth. your defense > your offense. if you packed on a few lbs of muscle and learned a post up game, you'd own the inside.

Was there an emphasis on the word game? If so I totally heard you say that in my mind

I'm awful, but I try hard. Kam is clearly better than me. What he lacks in talent he makes up for in athleticism. I have little athleticism to make up for my lack of talent.

I wouldn't rag on Kam's game. The sneaky little b*stard is a full 8 inches shorter than me and makes playing my game hell. And yes, he's blocked me too. But only once, and from behind!

My assessments of those I've played with on multiple occasions:

Kam: Solid defender, the kind of guy you like on your team and hate on your opponent's. As others have said, the outside shooting is spotty, and I'm not sold on the turnaround jumper at the basket either. But like I said, I HATE being defended by Kam.

Moestavern: Deceptively quick and athletic, and will get past you if you let your guard down. Surprisingly good handles. Can finish at the basket and shake a defender off with varied fakes and spins. Very solid outside shot, but prone to cold spells (which can lead to hot reactions at times). Defensive effort is always there, but is around average. I like being guarded by him because he tends to be slow on closing out my jump shots.

CCR: It's usually a lost cause if he's not on your team out there. Got a can't-miss jumper, a fast first step, great handles, and enough of a vertical to finish at the basket over taller players. Can't comment on defense, never been defended by him. Plays a mean game of GEICO... er, HORSE.

Everybody else, I just haven't played with enough. I'm kind of disappointed I missed out on the games played in the previous pickup games thread... no one's been wanting to play for the last couple months. You guys had better get your asses back out there once it cools off!

Where are you? I know it's Canada, but Canada's a big country.
I've been in Calgary a few days every month or so lately, so if you can make it there, I can stash you in my luggage on the way back.

Sadly, Quebec, which is a still a pretty significant distance.

luggage-stashing will have to wait for a few months of eating nothing but bananas and protein shakes :(

seems like Clutchfans has a good bunch down there though.

Obviously these comparisons are based on skill set and playing style, not talent. Well, obvious to everyone but you I suppose.

This is 100% correct. jcee15 definitely tops me there. I do have decent handles, but I tend not to utilize that in a 5 on 5 setting. Probably because I feel it's easier for me to pull up and shoot from where I am than to put in the effort of trying to get by my defender off the dribble.

    Yessss... ;)

When and where? Will try to be there. I'm out in PV for college, but could probably make it down to Houston.

Me too. When I do get in the game, I usually move without the ball, and try and sneak around until I get in a good position for an easy bucket. I'll try and lock down the "old guy who never misses from the 3 pt. line" on the other team, and for some reason even though I'm small I do alright rebounding the ball.

And I'll make hustle plays. I'm kind of a more undersized Chuck Hayes, who plays at the guard position, even though he handles the ball like Chuck Hayes.
