Rose is great but I really think that team is overachieving so much. Thibbs is a great coach, his defensive mentality is great for that team. It is hard to win with Bogans as your starting SG. Thibbs does it easy though.
I always new the kid was good after his first playoffs but not this good. If he keeps this up, he will be a MVP contender in the coming years.
LeDouche simply won't win for a third straight year, especially since the Heat won't win 70 games and probably won't win 65. And he is not the most valuable player. Take Rose off the Bulls, they won't make playoffs. The Magic without Howard are pretty much a slightly worse version of the Rockets. Not so with Lebron.
rose is great no doubt, but if he wins, there will be some backlash similar to when nash won it. rose isn't a top 5 player. and his efficiency leaves a lot to be desired. and the bulls are winning primarily of their defense (and rose isn't even a top 3 defender on that team). to me, it's between lebron and dwight right now. both do it on BOTH ends, and do it efficiently and at a high level. rose winning would be a GREAT story, but he's nowhere close to being the best player, which is what something i feel should be a criteria for MVP.
the bulls defense is ELITE with or without rose. with defense, IN THE EAST, the bulls can challenge for a playoff spot if boozer and noah are healthy.
That's the point. Boozer and Noah have not been healthy. And they're still one of the top teams. And if having an elite defense was enough, then Milwaukee wouldn't be, well, Milwaukee.
Challening for a playoffs spot? They are 38-16. They are challenging for the best record in the East and they could get it since Noah is coming back. If they get the best record in the East Rose wins the MVP hands down.
MVP means the most valuable player to their team, not the best player. I put Rose on top here. You take out Rose and his team is a sub .500 ball club and that's with Noah healthy. You take Lebron out and his team will still be elite having Wade/Bosh. It will be hard for Lebron to win just for that reason b/c Wade is just as valuable. I then put Dwight 2nd and then Lebron.
Rose is the best point guard in the game... his size, speed, finishing and shooting are all amazing, not to mention he steps up in big games.. he took it to rondo in the playoffs in his rookie year, and played well in last years playoffs. He has also shown the ability to improve. The biggest knock on rose was his shot and now it is a strength. i think his efficiency will also improve with time.. and t_mac1, to say he is not a top 5 player is not right because he is outplaying all the best point guards and leading his team to the top 3 of the east, playing the most important position on the court.. plus, he hasn't had boozer and noah healthy at the same time for very long. lebitch has Dwayne and Bosh plus the refs on his team, he is no doubt the best player but his value to the Heat does not outweigh Derrick Rose's value to the bulls or Dwight Howard's value to the magic i hope the bulls get to the finals and eliminate the heat
Well they have been playing without Joakim Noah, arguibly one of the best defensive centers in the game who plays with an intensity hard to match, and they have Brewer whos starting to come to form after an injury sidelined him for much of the beginning of the season. I think Chicago is a legit contender in the East, i would take them over Miami but idk about Boston just yet.
milwaukee got a playoff spot last year with one of the worst offenses in the L last year (but one of the best defenses) in the east right? that's how great the bulls' D is. i'm not saying rose isn't great, but it's hard for me to aknowledge someone as an MVP when they're not even top 5 in the L. that's why i still don't consider nash an MVP-type player despite his two MVPs. just so someone can stat search: check rose's stats in the bulls wins and losses. they're basically THE SAME. now check the other superstars' stats in their teams' wins and losses. huge difference. just so people don't think i'm a hater, before the start of the season, i posted a thread on rose taking that next step to superstardom. i do love his play and what he does on the court.
how did magic win his MVPs? how did bird win his MVP? how did michael win his MVPs? michael retired and the bulls still won 55+ games. magic and bird play with HOFs. shaq won an MVP with another top 5-7 player in the L in kobe that year. i can go on. if we're playing the game of you take this guy out, that team sucks, then tmac should have won 2 MVPs when he was with us. we couldn't win 1-2 game without him for 1-2 year stretch. i don't think the bulls would be a sub .500 team without rose. their defense is too great. people underrate how great of a defensive coach thibs is. they can play .500 ball and above IN THE EAST (notice i mention in the east) if rose had a season-ending injury right now. regardless of that, to me an MVP is someone who is not only valuable to his team, but also a guy that is the best (or near the best) in the L. i mean, shouldn't we award "the best player in the L?" for lebron to put up the BEST stats still with a top 3-4 player is phenomenal. and he's the heat's best defensive player. for howard to elevate his team's defense with a bunch of mediocre defenders AND elevate his offensive game to the next level, that has to mean something. both of those guys are ELITE on BOTH ends. and they mean A TON to their teams. and let's be real, no one mistakes rose as an "above" average defender. i don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be like some on here, but for him to take the next level, he has to elevate his defensive game. look at all the MVPs in recent memory, the only one you shake your head at is freakin' steve nash. if rose wins, a lot of people will shake their heads too. i'm just sayin'.
Steve Nash won those MVP b/c he's the most valuable player to his team in respect to the other team. Efficiency stats has no bearing to judge an MVP by since all that matters is the Wins and Losses. I don't think you're grasping the difference between the most valuable player to the best player. Either that or your definition of MVP is different from the rest of us.
the bulls would still be a good defensive team without rose but their offense would be absolutely pathetic. they would be an 8th seed at best like what the bobcats was last year but not a top 3 team in the East with Rose.
