RIP MVP level Derrick Rose. Welcome to Amare Stoudemire's world of continual false hope, a huge paycheck, and eventually resignation.

I think what we're learning is that D Rose was at his best when Chris Douglas-Roberts could take some of the athletic load off of him. Without CDR, D Rose has to make all these crazy athletic moves, putting too much strain on his knees.

    I wouldn't worry about that.

I would worry more about how strong his knees are.

Yes he did....his knee issues started from a nasty awkward fall when he was undercut.

Rockets fans went through the same thing with Yao and Tracy...but I guess Bulls have a more legit shot at going to the finals than the Rockets did, still the "what ifs" keep playing in my head...

I think that they have had it made as opposed to the majority of NBA teams.

The big mistake that team will make is waiting for DR to get healthy. They need to approach this like he's never coming back.

The Rockets would've likely won the championship in 2009-10 season if T-mac were healthy and playing, and if Yao hadn't gotten injured...

The only western conf. team that year that took the championship Lakers to seven games... and the only other team that did so featured the big Celtics three... Biggest name we had was Artest for 95% of that series..

    What a shame.

The biggest reason for injury is probably DRose's play style, but Thibodeau, who is considered one of the greatest coaches in NBA today, had his share in it too. Like McHale does with Harden, he likes to overplay their starters. On the other hand, he gets more than 100% from most of his players (Nate Robinson...), so that makes up for the injuries a bit. They will probably never win a championship with him though.

His knee just gave way when he was turning to run down the court. Its not like a Westbrook injury where its been planted and jarred, he's literally just been playing the game and its just given way.

That's whats so worrying, and tough to overcome from a mental aspect. It's one thing to be able to rationalize it by, "fkn fell into my knee", its completely different when you literally were just turning to run down the court.

I don't know about that, those Rockets teams with Yao, TMac and Artest were IMO NBA Finals quality if not for the injuries. The Bulls are a very good team with a healthy Rose, but I cannot see them getting past Miami and possibly Indiana.

@chicagobulls: Earlier this morning, Derrick Rose underwent successful surgery to repair his previously torn medial meniscus in his right knee... (cont.)

@chicagobulls: (cont.) ... The surgery was performed at Rush University Medical Center and Rose is out for the remainder of the season.
