I think it says a lot about your team when you are hoping that Derrick Coleman will be your savior . . .
Just saw this. We HAVE to pick him up. I'm a big DC fan. He's smart and will fit right in with the veteran squad that we have. Get him NOW.
We do not want DC- injury prone, poor attitude, cancer in the locker room, loser. He took all those gifts adn made a mediocre career. He was truly a gifted player out of college. What a loser. He got in that wreck while playing for Charlotte, and I do not think Eldridge Recasner ever played again. Also one of the women with them was hurt very seriously. One of those guys that people end up hurt by asociation. Besides -he is old and done....
oh dear god. Every person sayign we should get DC furthers the idea that this board has gone downhill in knowledge. If you thought Mo wasn't living up to his contract, his skills, or his expectations...DC is the guy that was patterened after. The guy who had "the total package" coming out of school and could've been "the best PF every to play the game" (and I still believe that he could have been that with a good work ethic) has been a colossal bust since his first 2 or 3 years in NJ. He did come through with about a season for Philly, but there is a lack of effort overall. He duplicates what we already have 2 of in Juwan and Mo. His range goes out a little more, but the J isn't as good. His post game is about on part with Juwan's. He does rebound better than either one, but it's *toughness* and rebounding we need. This guy is as soft as they get. I've been one of the big supporters of CD and JVG, but if we sign this guy...CD has to go.
DC was in a different accident than the Wesley one, btw. He was driving with Eldridge Recasner as a passenger and crashed. I believe he was DUI. Oh, and don't forget Coleman was also arrested for urinating on himself in a restaurant. Oh, and don't forget Coleman was also suspended by Charlotte one year for being too fat to play. And there's a million others, but none of them matter because DC's legs are shot. He can't play at all anymore. No lift and he can't run the floor.
I played some pick-up games with him last week as well. Great shooter, unselfish player. Didn't play a lick of defense tho, lol.
when was that? that sounds hilarious. btw a huge fat NO on coleman, he's terrible and his game is absolutely the opposite of the kind of 4 we desperately need. whoever said old-ass mo taylor is right.
http://www.mollen.net/coleman.html Urine luck, here's what happened (allegedly) was written in 2002. JACKASS OF THE MONTH DERRICK COLEMAN Charlotte Hornets power forward and former Syracuse University star Derrick Coleman is Mollen’s inaugural selection as Jackass of the Month. In the best several months, Coleman has managed not only to tangle with a police officer, drive while intoxicated, deny driving while intoxicated, blame his driving impairment on his cell phone use, and accuse the media of a conspiracy against him, but he was also accused of urinating in public. Now, that’s the resume of a true jackass. D.C. from Big D, as Dick Vitale affectionately referred to Coleman during his college days, could face criminal charges for allegedly urinating in the dining room of a popular downtown Detroit restaurant earlier this year. The 6-foot-9 Detroit native allegedly relieved himself in front of dozens of diners at Intermezzo Italian Ristorante, although his attorney has been quoted as stating, "The story is totally wrong." Coleman earns bonus points for dining not only with Indiana Pacers guard Jalen Rose, but also with boxer Thomas “The Hit Man” Hearns. After spilling a drink on his pants and standing to wipe it off, a restaurant employee quite naturally presumed that Mr. Coleman was taking a piss, and visibly upset, notified his manager. Coleman was then asked to leave despite his protestations that the liquid soiling his trousers was not urine, but in fact, water. Coleman was neither arrested nor ticketed, but we can all hold out hope that with witness testimony, he will be charged with indecent and obscene conduct. Coleman was careful with his words after the incident, stating, “I'm going to leave it alone until I can straighten it out." Listeners were left to their own devices as to whether Coleman was referring to the legal matter or his own penis. In October, Coleman was arrested for drunk driving in an incident where he blamed his cell phone - not his massive consumption of alcohol - for his erratic driving. Coleman then accused the media of unfairly scrutinizing him for his arrest, stating that he was being unfairly singled out because he is a professional athlete. Coleman was charged after his sport utility vehicle was involved in a late-night wreck with a tractor-trailer in Charlotte. Coleman and a female passenger received facial and head lacerations, and Eldridge Recasner, a reserve shooting guard for the Hornets, sustained a broken shoulder and a partially collapsed lung. Understandably concerned for his own well being after nearly killing several friends, Coleman is on the record as stating, "People act like nobody ever had an accident before in their life. I mean, I understand that we as athletes are under a microscope, but we're human beings just like everybody else." Coleman, in the second year of a five-year, $40 million contract that makes him the Hornets' highest-paid player, called the wreck a freak accident. In a stunning display of prepositional phrases employed in a compound sentence, Coleman went on to say, "I'm just happy everybody's OK and that we can at this particular point in time laugh and joke about it. Coleman, who refused to take a blood test after the wreck, also questioned a police report that said he exhibited signs of being impaired. Pointing out the implausbility of being intoxicated and maintaining the ability to speak on a mobile phone, Coleman added, "It wasn't like I was intoxicated. I was talking on the telephone the whole way home." Coleman's use of the phone, or lack thereof, was questioned again last week when Recasner, who has been sidelined all season as a result of his injuries, told the press that Coleman had not contacted him since the accident occured. With the two latest incidents, Coleman adds to his impressive record of being arrested six times in the past four years. For those of you keeping score at home, that’s more than once a year! Included in his many arrests was a refusal to move his truck from the site of a police investigation. Congratulations, Derrick, you’re our Jackass of the Month!
