I don't want Portland to catch any breaks. Look at what we've had to go through. Besides, Pritchard was tough on us. In this case however, I'd have to make an exception ......
I don't know if that will be palpable to the organization. They would have 2 set pieces - Nowitzki and Williams. Haywood would be the obvious choice for amnesty, but that leaves them with ~$48 million cap hold for just 3 players. With no Terry coming back there are a lot of holes on the roster and this summer a lot of teams have cap room. The price of the basketball assets may increase dramatically. Should be interesting though. The 2013 punitive luxury tax implications are just around the corner. Front offices are already thinking differently.
I don't know if we have enough here to attract him in Houston away from Dallas--maybe if we can convince him that Lowry will bring back a younger all-star than Dirk in trade.
Not only is using the amnesty clause palpable for the Mavs it is a likely scenario IF they are unable to trade Marion's remaining contract. While haywood might seem like an "obvious" choice the likelier candidate IMO is Marion, assuming they cant trade him w/o taking back much $$ first. First of all Marion is due 8.6 and 9.3 million meaning Cuban is paying at most 17.9 million for Marion to go away. However, he will end up only paying 7-10 million total as Marion is likely to get a contract elsewhere in the 2yr 10 million range. Second, Haywood while not quite worth the remaining 3yr 27 million on his contract is the only true center on the Mavs roster. Haywood isnt an offensive threat, nor is he an elite defender or rebounder, but he is a big & legit center with above average defense and centers even average ones are expensive, which makes amnestying Haywood an unlikely scenario. By either amnestying or trading Marion, the Mavs will only have approximately 33 million in payroll, leaving 23 million or so for Deron Williams, pay draft picks, vet minimum and then some. There is little to no chance the punitive tax implications in 2013 will affect the Mavs in 2012-14 as it is very unlikely or even possible for them to increase their payroll above 70million. The only way they can get that far over the cap (est 56million) would be by using their bird rights and resigning Terry, Kidd or/and Odom to massive new contracts, all of which would be very unlikely if they manage to sign Deron Williams.
Deron will never play in Houston. He's still pissed about the fans cheering when he was injured on the court.
Imagine how Nets fans feel. One second they're going to have Deron, Dwight, Lopez, and possibly Humphries and now they're screwed. Wow...
Sounds like some people on ClutchFans lol. Dragic is wearing Rockets shorts in his picture, so he must want to stay.
He better be careful, go too hard after Dwill and lose Dragic. I don't think he'd be opposed to coming here, the problem is Dallas is his hometown and has a better team. Maybe if they try to lowball the offer and try to get a contender/hometown discount...but this is Cuban, he's going to do all he can. Also watching the playoffs, Dwill has to see that these super pairings and trios are overrated. It's about how a team is built...he'd fit in perfectly there.
