I agree! Look at it this way people. Chicago minus Derick Rose Against Houston minus Lowry, Martin, or Scola. (Whoever you think our best player is) No one can say that Chicago would Beat Houston in this situation. Especially in a playoff series.
Don't get me wrong i agree with most of what your saying. I just think there is a way to build a championship team without centering it around a superstar. Though we do need to grab a player that is better than any player we have now. What position that player needs to be is not for me to determine, but i don't think we need a new and better point guard when Lowry will always assist for us and maybe even ice the cake with points and steals.
First, D-Will is only 2 yrs older than Kyle. Second, if D-Will is "performing like he doesn't care", with a line of 20-4-9....that's scary! Plus, let's not act like Kyle's attitude is that much better than Williams. Kyle Lowry is not now, nor will ever be as good a player as Deron Williams. Kyle is good player who has improved greatly but do not be delusional about his game. DWill is one of the top 5 pg's in the game.
No.... Lowry hasn't touched his prime yet. Deron has, and in this league people judge players by their best years. So saying Lowry will never be as good as Williams is just plain idiotic... Scottie Pippin was never projected to be great but he was... Learn from the past, you can never be certain when it comes to how players will turn out in their overall career performance.
I agree, D WILL is a great talent. I just dont think the Rockets are in a situation where they will try to get this guy. We are no where near that deal so D WIll backers shouldn't put much stock into this thread anyway.
You sir, are my friend.... Why people think that Deron is and always will be 5x better than Lowry is beyond me... Deron is experiencing his best days, while Lowry is just seeing them on the horizon. Anyone who states that Deron is and always will be a better player is just selling Lowry and themselves short...
It is all about contract value, my friend..... I'd rather have lowry and 4 good to borderline allstars than Dwill and DHoward and 3 borderline crappy players..... One injury and it goes down like we had before. Lowry Martin or whoever Iguodala, Crash Wallace Patterson-beast mode, Dmo, Robert Horry Sam Dalembert, Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez
It's a terrible argument to take the time to show why we need a superstar then use that justificiation to spend money on any superstar. Very little of what you talk about has to do with Deron Williams. This thread is specifically about Deron Williams and my argument about character matters. All those teams you listed not only do they have superstars, but they have superstars who aren't called out for being whiny complainers who don't like to practice on road trips and aren't coachable. If he didn't listen to Jerry Sloan why would he listen to Kevin McHale? Before you type 600 words, take a step back and ask yourself what are you really talking about.... because all your post tells me is that we need a superstar. Got it. Thanks. Not Deron Williams.
WTF are you talking about? Dwill is 27. Since when is that past someone's prime? Are you kidding me? By the way Kyle turns 26 next month. Good lord...
Yes, Lowry is way under paid and even when he gets a new contract he will still be underpaid unless he becomes an allstar. Which is very possible, probably not this year but i think within 3 years he'll be on Deron's level and even higher. Do you also think we can build a championship team without a superstar?
First you say we don't need a superstar, and then as an example you bring up the Bulls? Well then I guess they have a superstar. Not a good idea to compare the Rockets to the Bulls in this way. Especially given the fact that they have the reigning MVP of the entire league on their team. What are you thinking?
I believe with extremely good chemistry, smart moves, and luck to have no major injuries or having a good bench really caters to the requirement of being a contender at least...... That line up I gave you..... given that Patterson, Motiejunas, or Morris are exceeding basic expectations going to be valid 15 ppg and above production with rebounds and the whole package, and one Iguodala and one Marc Gasol away from being a constant top 3 in the West...... that is very good to me.
In the scenario where you have Dwill and Howard, which is a tad unlikely, you gotta at least have one good to very good player more to contend..... and a decent bench.... Dwill Marshon Brooks Parsons Motiejunas Howard
Heres the problem with this. Lowry had a blast off beginning of the season but he hasnt retouched that lvl for quite a few games now. Assist numbers have noticeably went downhill. His defense has declined. And scoring has been staying on par with his assisting, declining. So the question is, is he in a funk now? Is he injured? Is the female ref incident weighing heavy on his chest? Or was those first few games lucky...once in a blue moon type games for him? Either way, his play as of now is worth the contract. His play in the beginning of the season was beyond worth. Point to be taken is that everyone has him on the lvl he started this year on when frankly he hasnt been there as of lately so is he missing now or is he at his norm now?
My point by saying that wasn't to contradict, and i don't take it back. Did you realize that i also stated that we do need someone better than anyone we have? This saying that we need someone great, not superstar, but great. Say Rose is a 10/10 and Lowry is 5.5/10, we need a 7. On top of that we need to get rid of clunky bench players and make the bench more solid with an average rating of say 3-4.5/10. This being said, its pretty much a pipe dream...
You could be right, but i think that he will start to produce at or near the level he started at. He may not even be at the lvl ive guaged him at... Who knows, not me...
Deron Williams is not a superstar. This would be a waste of time. Now you guys are just going off of name recognition alone. Williams has never led a team anywhere worth mentioning. If Williams were all that, the Nets would at least be doing better than what they are doing now.
