If Utah was getting Cousins and Sacramento was getting D-Will, then the Rockets had to be getting Al Jefferson, right?

Otherwise, there would be absolutely no point for them to even be included. Unless, of course, Tyreke Evans was involved, which I seriously doubt.

as has been noted many times in this thread already, Deron is already signed through next season.

Moreover, he has a player option for the following year. he can say what he wants now, but when the new CBA limits the max salaries some of these guys are currently getting, one has to think Deron will choose to stay around in 2012/2013, which pays him $17.7 million.

Maybe not, but in any case, one would further assume sign and trade is still available, so the Nets should get something back...

Utah trades D-Will but Morey is reluctant to trade Brooks. You gotta give to get. Face it we aint getting jack.

You don't trade brooks if you're getting trash in return.

because we are not winning, other teams think Morey will get rid of our team in a fire sale....sorry, not happening

teams want our pieces but they refuse to give us anything valuable in return

He could force a trade in the offseason turning it into another Carmelo Anthony situation.

That is my guess. I doubt Utah would trade Williams and Cousins be involved without them getting him.

Unless like you said Tyreke was involved but he is currently in a walking boot for 3 weeks so he wouldn't be able to pass his physical.

Can't blame him for trying but people on this board overrate our assets compared to other teams.

Wes was paid a good amount of money.

They do get 2011 Nets 1st which will be lottery, another potential lotto pick in top 7 protected GS 1st in 2012. And Devin Harris is solid.

I don't think that this is a "personnel collapse," I think it is a fair deal. The Nets are basically mortgaging their future to build a contending team. Can they do it? Who knows but they do have an elite PG, good C and cap so the pieces are there. Then again, not like the Nets had much of a future before doing this deal (in Soviet Russia, future give up on the Nets).

Supposedly alot of the tension between Sloan and Deron was because Utah wasn't aggressively pursuing certain players and let Boozer/Mathews go. At the time I thought it was because Sloan preferred the blue collar, hard working player who wouldn't ask questions and fit perfectly into his system. Jefferson hasn't been the same ever since he was injured, that was never enough to compensate for what Utah lost. AK47 has always been a playoff flop.

IMO Deron is the best PG in the league and you don't give up on that for no CERTAIN top talent. Looking around I can see how this was the best deal Utah would get, but at the end of last season they looked very promising to me... up until the Lakers series. I think Okur was a lot more important to that team than people thought. Him being out made the Jazz doubt everything.

More top talent leaves the west...win! Also, strategically, it makes it more likely (if not actually probable) that the Rockets can nab Williams if he is unhappy in New Jersey and forces his way out. The Nets would never trade him to the Knicks, or Orlando. The Lakers would be the main rival to get him, assuming he does not sign an extension with the Nyets.

Russillo just said said the Rockets thought they were in this (trading for Deron Williams), but ultimately the Jazz didn't want to trade Williams to a WCF team.

Did Williams agree to an extension w/ the Nets.

If not........I see a new trio in NY soon.

not sure if this was posted but just heard on SVP show... apparently Morey tried to do whatever it took to get Dwill but the jazz wouldnt for obvious reasons. :(

Morey is pulling his hair out trying to make deals. Anyone that hates on him, get off the wagon.

the nets are my soon-to-be 2nd favorite team. there is gonna be a lot of excitement in nyc if the nets manage to build on this move. it was a no-brainer for a franchise seeking a new identity. i bet he stays. i think prokhorov will do what's needed to make them competitive.
