Ok question is who would you rather build around. So your reasoning is when is the last time an elite PG led a team to a Championship.

But if we are comparing the two Melo has only been out of the 1st round one time in his career. D-Will not so much. Neither has won a ship but I think Deron gives you a better chance.

I think the 1 year Anthony advanced was when Billups joined. The next year, Karl had cancer and it seemed to screw the team up. DW seemed to have pretty strong teams in Utah for much of the time.

I just don't see how Carmelo is "over-hyped". Carmelo Anthony gets talked about more because a)he has more flashy plays (he's a wing), b)is more well known by non-nba fans (winning a national championship in college, endorsements, etc.), c) he's clutch and has been in the playoffs the past 7 years d) he's buddies with Lebron e) he scores a lot.

The last reason is probably the most important.

But, if by "over-hyped" you mean he is discussed more than players who are better than him I agree but it's the norm for scorers to get extra attention. I think it's really only an issue for people who dislike Melo (as a player or otherwise). He isn't unique in this regard.
