This is a grand slam home run for the Nets. Major props to them. Blows my mind they danced so long with Melo and ended up getting D-Will as a "consolation prize".
Paul is better....Paul doesnt need to score 20 pts to impact a game..Deron is 2nd though...To answer the OP , I'd take Williams any day of the week.......This move should only help Outlaw...Imagine if they had kept T-Will on that team(since everyone here thinks he's baby Lebron)........
You've got more work ahead of you if you start with Deron, it'll be a quicker and easier start with Melo....but Deron is the kind of guy you can ride deep into the postseason with. Anthony...not so much.
Lol why will D-Will be more unpopular than Melo? Let's see: good citizen, extremely efficient, younger, can hit 3 pointers, and although not part of the discussion, Nets got him for much less than their highest bid for Melo (~4 picks+Harris+Favors). Melo is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. It'll show now that NY strapped its talent to get him on board.
All the analyists and reporters are sayimg that the Nets stole the Knicks thunder by grabbing Deron. I honestly think so too. I'd take Deron over Anthony any day.
Pretty surprised by the CF.net poll results. Nearly every state except Utah, Idaho, Illinois, Wyoming, Oregon, begs to differ. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?sportIndex=frontpage&pollId=107548
Well, it seems to me that CF is pretty anti-knicks, so in light of that, it's not so surprising to me. Having said that, the Nets got a better deal than the knicks did, *IF* DWill stays long term, which appears to be a big IF right now.
it's pretty much common knowledge that clutchfans opinions do not represent the opinion of most nba fans...
Look at it this way -- if NY paired up Deron with Amare they'd be consider a contender; with Melo and Amare most people are not convinced.
It's because this board is composed of people with relatively high basketball knowledge. Many feel that D-Will does more for winning than Melo, and we're not blinded by Melo's "Star Power."
I have to agree. I imagine the traffic going through ESPN's unscientific poll are more 'casual' fans than we see here.
When was the last time an elite PG leading a team to championship? That being said, Deron's the better player due to his mental toughness.
