So you're telling me that and forgive me if someone else posted this but the Warriros have commited 80 million dollars to Adonal Foyle and Derek Fisher??? I wonder what the reaction is in Warrior land
no NVE. The guy is old and injury prone. Just cause he had a good playoffs doesent mean he is all that. Jeez.
I agree with you 100%. Fisher has solid experience, and is a good player indeed. He was solid in 00 an 01. He was just plagued by injuries in 02 and last season, got sent to the bench. 39 mil is a bargain for the experience he brings. I think 49-55 million would be more fair.
Does anyone think that Fisher could be involved in a trade? Dampier will most likely leave with a sign-and-trade, so maybe Fisher would be involved somehow. Maybe to Dallas or Ind.
That makes sense, I didn't get that from the post. Definately something Steve had trouble doing last season!!!
Don't even go there. What you mean they are not going anywhere..they have all the key players under contract. Divac is old anyway so they don't need him. No way you can get Bobby.
well this leaves: Daniels, Jones, and Ward. I am not including snow and NVE b/c the rockets obviously dont want to sign ridoculus contracts and most likely dont want to inherit them either thourgh a trade.
i'm pretty sure a FA can't be traded for at least 60 days (possibly 90) after signing, so unless the trade is happening closer to training camp, he's not part of it. plus, who wants a dumbass contract from the warriors. i wanted fisher after barry was gone, but am damn glad we didn't think about getting into the bidding for him. isn't jaric pretty bad at D (or maybe it's just being on the clippers, as a team they were atrocious) and weren't his shooting numbers not exactly sparkling? edit: 38.8% fg, 34.0% 3 pt, not great. did pick up 1.6 spg so that's pretty good. still don't want him on the team, though.
I know he just re-signed with the t-wolves, but maybe it's Troy Hudson. I think his new contract would match up with both the mle, and the te. And didn't the wolves try to get Juwan Howard recently? I think his contact's in that range too. OT-does anyone think that Tyrone Lue's kicking himself right about now for not opting out of his contract this year?
I'm almost relieved that the Rockets didn't take on a contract like that. I mean, how many of you routinely complained about Moochie or Mo Taylor or Cato, etc? The Rockets are clearly not going to spend just to spend and I, for one, applaud that. You could take the short-sighted viewpoint that we need someone now, but if it hamstrings you in assembling the RIGHT talent around your two stars down the road, you don't do it. Remember that McGrady is 25 and Yao is 23. This is more than just a win now scenario. This isn't our last run. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be MANY postseasons of contention. We could use a big man, no question, but with the lack of centers in the West, running with Taylor/Howard/Spoon as back up at the five would not be the worst thing in the world. We do need a point, but is Fisher really worth almost $40 million for SIX YEARS??? He'll be 37 and making, what, about $12 million? That's ridiculous. We have one of the most potent one-two punches in the NBA. Arguably, we have the best young twosome anywhere in the league. We can build a winner around them, but we don't have to overspend RIGHT NOW to do it.
Hola to all... I've been away for, oh, I don't know, close to a year... anway, I'm back and will put something semi-preposterous out there to be shot down like all the others in this thread: I wonder if Sac would consider something involving J.Howard and/or Mo-T + Spare Parts in exchange for Bobby J and Vlade to serve as a Back-up C and help teach Yao... OK... I'm done! Good to be back anyway!
The McGrady deal has definitely bought CD and JVG at least one year to get this thing going in the right direction. It's looking more and more like that's how long away any real improvement is...if we "get by" with Lue/Gaines and a bargain this year. No championship team can even begin to form until the Starting Point Guard is part of the lineup. While Lue and Gaines could be nice backups, neither is (or probably ever will be) a championship, starting PG. And it is becoming apparent anyone we bring in may not be all that much of an upgrade (long or short-term) over the incumbants. Unless Rockets Management decides to enter the Great PG Derby of 2004, the true direction of this team may not have begun until after this season...how can it without its point guard? Still...I'm glad they are taking the prudent approach as well. A year's wait is worth a decade's dominance.
i bet vasluou speooijdskljsdf. is gonna be our future point guard. The rookie we drafted. For now we will probably get damon or daniels. Its just a matter of time.
