I hope you're right. Great point, btw.

Can we all agree that Fish was overpaid?

Considering the way average players are being treated these days, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else overpays to get him.

IMO Fisher just went to a team that has no need for him (too many PGs), thus his ultimate deciding factor was the Money.

If so, that means something is going to happen with Van Exel I bet.

    Hmmm.

    Brent Barry... nope.
    Troy Hudson... nope.
    Derek Fisher... nope.

Antonio Daniels... likely off the market now. The money being thrown around is ridiculous. Hopefully when the dust clears we end up with a reasonable deal.

Looks like we are left with the following options...

    Nick Van Exel
    Eric Snow

Through trades. Only if we get rid of Spoon/Griffin/Pike along with the TE in the process. Even then, Snow's contract is scary.

    Charlie Ward
    Damon Jones
    Mike James

I'm sure that even with all the Knicks players we already brought in no one can seriously consider Ward a starting caliber PG. Since no one has mentioned James yet, it would seem that Jones is the most likely choice. I don't know, I just can't picture him as a starter even he though he had some sucess with the Bucks.

When all is said and done, James may turn out to be the best choice. He's is young, should be cheap and has upside. Is he unrestricted?

Even though I really did want Fisher, I'm glad we didn't overpay for him. The guy will be senile by the time his contract is finished.

I don't6 care how many rings he has, Fisher is not worth Moochie-money.

Not worth it. Let the Warriors overpay for mediocrity. I'm glad the Rockets have learned their lesson from the Maloney/Cato/Moochie/Mo Taylor debacles. Get either Damon Jones or Antonio Daniels, but don't give out the entire MLE and a 6-year deal to an average player who has maybe 2 solid seasons left in him.

It's ironic that Speedy Claxton, 4 years yonger, better stats and abused Fisher 2 years ago in Spurs vs Lakers series, makes less than Fisher now on the same team.
I don't know what's up with this summer. Some teams are just CRAAAAZY!!!

I dont see NVE being a Van Gundy type player. This is a coach that exudes discipline and toughness. Van Exel has played for lightweights in Del Harris, Don Nelson, Dan Issel, and Musselman in GS.

I dont think NVE cares to commit himself as much as JVG would want him to, plus we would have to pay him 11.8 mil as rocksolid stated.

I'm content to let the rest of the league do themselves in with bad contracts and get cheap FA's next year at this point. 37 million for fisher is horrible.

I would say hell no to NVE coming to Houston.

    Claxton I would take.

    These contracts are nuts...

Man, I was so hoping that Fisher would sign with the Sonics so we could get Daniels, or Fisher would sign with us for cheap at least. Damn!

Gotta say Damon Jones is CLEARLY the best choice now...

Looking back on the last two weeks, my opinion is that Utah got the steal of the summer, by signing Arroyo.

Wasn't the contract 4 years at 4 per?

That kid could have gotten a lot more somewhere else.

I agree, NVE brings a sort of chaos and wildness back to this team, which we worked so hard to get rid of (a.k.a. Francis).

Another playgroud type player such as NVE is not the solution to our PG problem.

I agree...that guy could have waited a little longer and made about 20 million more.
