do you even check if this was posted already? Because theres no way you could of missed the other 2 threads.
I am listening to KNBR out of San Fran and they are also reporting this. They are going to give more info soon. I will report anything new that I hear.
With every r****ded contract like those given to Fisher and Foyle, The Golden State Warriors move further and further away from being an option for Yao Ming to consider in the free agent sweepstakes. I don't think they were ever a serious competitor, really, but the Rockets are smart not raise the stakes for scrubs like Fisher.
Why's the surprise? I saw this coming. Why would he give a crap about winning another Championship anymore when he already won like 3? He's not like Jordan that crave competitions. The guy is going to relax now with the money he's making. I really didn't want him here in the first place.
NVE will make $11.8M (in 04-05) and a team option at $12.7M (in 05-06)...No Thanks I'll take Clax at $3.3M (04-05) and a team option at $3.6 (05-06)
Sorry, I did not refresh my screen and the posts were not there when I heard on the radio. Noticed the screw up after I posted.
Ummm, am I missing something? Why are you all saying "horrible contract"? Fisher, who atleast has solidfied himself as a solid NBA player got a 6 yr, 37 million dollar deal. I think in this market, where Brian Cardinal received a 6yr, 39 Million dollar contract. I'd say the signing of Fisher was of good value.
i wouldn't call it good value. There are a ton of guys who have been signed to ridiculous contracts. I'm glad the rockets didn't waste 6 million a year on the guy, he's certainly not worth that much.
It's here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1840670 While the Lakers got the most important member of their starting five back on Thursday, they also lost one of their clutchest playoff performers. Point guard Derek Fisher agreed to a six-year, $37 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN Insider Chad Ford. The deal is for the Warriors full mid-level exception. The choice for Golden State is interesting, as just last summer they signed point guard Speedy Claxton to a multi-year deal and traded for point guard Nick Van Exel. The Lakers, Heat, Rockets and Sonics also pursued Fisher this summer. Fisher averaged 7.1 points and 2.3 assists a game for the Lakers last season in a reserve role behind Gary Payton, but hit a number of big shots for them in the postseason, including the dramatic buzzer-beating fadeaway that beat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals. Fisher has spent his entire eight-year career with the Lakers after being selected 24th overall in the 1996 NBA draft out of Arkansas-Little Rock. Prior to last season, Fisher had averaged in double figures for the three previous seasons, with a career-high of 11.4 points per game in 2000-01 -- the second of the Lakers three consecutive championship seasons.
If Fisher hadn't been tagging along with Kobe and Shaq, I doubt he'd bet getting paid half of what he's making now. Still doesn't explain Cardinal though
Horrible contract. Glad we didn't give him that. Fish is a good point guard but that is way to much money. But hey....somebody paid it...just glad it wasnt us.
