I can't help but think of a certain West Virginian without much book learnin', but a hell of a lot of basketball smarts.... Jason Williams. I'm guessing Jerry West, if for nothing more than hubris, wants to respond to the moves of his new rivals in the east, and we could certainly help facilitate something with our TE.
OUT OF NOWHERE!!! is empahatically expressed...I think he means...WE HAD NO IDEA WE'D HAVE A CHANCE TO GET HIM - we thought he was UNTOUCHABLE!!! .08 could be bulls, if meant to be a clue. Hinrich??? I just can't see it, we have no talent that they might want outside of Gaines and a #1. You (chicago) just don't trade the guy awarded as your team's best player, who is a rookie, the next season just before his sophmore year. Hinrich excels in every category that Doc referenced and is far removed from the class of player that holds Daniels, Claxton, Damon JOnes, etc. So at the end of the day, I'm dreamcasting in Hinrich's availability. There's no way. Speedy Claxton...I wouldn't have thought the Rockets would be that surprised by his availability....to lead to his comment.
Memphis is definitely in the middle of nowhere. Go 2 hours in any direction and your best bet is Little Rock. But why would West trade with a division rival? Giving us a solid PG could doom the Grizzlies to years of looking up at us. Unlikely.
I could see West sending us Watson (for part of the T.E.) if the Grizz wanted to unload his contract if they were trading for NVE and Dampier of GS. They already have a boatload of guards so they might want to rid themselves of one, even if it is to a division rival. And to get Dampier perhaps GS demands that some team take NVE off their hands. Just a thought.
When Doc said a trade out nowhere I'm pretty sure he meant a trade that you least expect. Example, everyone expecting Antonio Daniels and Derek Fisher and the Rockets getting someone we never suspected, like Claxton or Tinsley or something.
Watson's a good defender and floor leader, but he can't shoot and is mistake prone. My guess is #8, Mike James, who's relatively young, can hit the 3, and who played for the league's best defensive team (which, incidentally, beat #8, Kobe Bryant, in the finals).
I seem to recall him posting after getting out of the hospital on one occasion. Of course, that doesn't mean his problems were over at that point. I just hope all is well.
I wish Doc would at least tell us when this supposed trade would be announced, if there is one. At least then we would know that the Rockets ARE doing something this offseason in terms of filling holes.
Although I would LOVE to be wrong, Doc Rocket said "relatively young" -- Hinrich would fall into the "young" category. Also, he would not meet the "out of nowhere" category since we've all been dreamcasting Hinrich. Batman Jones is onto something. Sam Cassell would fit all criteria and that would certainly be a bolt from the blue.
Forgive my ignorance, but, as a newbie and someone who is just moving back to Texas I am trying to play some catch up. I have been reading along and have a couple of questions still unanswered. 1. Is Gene Peterson our Gene from Rockets radio? 2. Is Doc Rocket CF's version of "Deepthroat" and is he in the know? What has he accurately predicted in the past? Thanks and I look forward to contributing in the Future
Why would the Wolves want to change their team? The Lakers were the only team that stood between them and the finals. Now that the Lakers are half broken up they should be the favorites to go next season. I can't see them making any big changes.
here is what doc listed as our needs: (1) a guy who can dribble: well every PG can dribble, so im guessing doc meant someone who won't dribble off thier foot out of bounds...someone with low TO's. who is attainable via trade that was tops in the leages ast/TO ratio last year W/ low TO's #'s? daniels, mcinnis, boykins, ollie, alvin williams, eisley, stoudamire, NVE, clax, jaric, atkins, crawford, darrel armstrong. (2) unselfish: low FGA's. so crawford, boykins, stoudamire, bibby, terry, wesley, GP, & cassell are out. not that all of them were even in the running... (3) can hit the outside shot: say goodbye to speedy, snow, and ollie. (4) can play defense: tell NVE and atkins to get to steppin'. (5) relatively young: that cuts GP & armstrong who are old. lopez and williams from utah, hinrich, NY's williams, & ridnour ARE young. so we are left with this bunch. CLE - McInnis LAC - jaric PHO - eisley SEA - daniels TOR - williams i wouldn't completely count out terry, stoudamire, and watson. who likes to push the ball up court (reffering to beating the :08 second count)? seattle was 6th in the league in PPG, so daniels can push the ball. memphis was 7th (watson), the clipps were 9th (jaric), and the suns were 11th (eisley). so who would be out of nowhere? not daniels.jaric was talked about before, as was watson. phoenix is in a desert (sp?), and eisley is an ex knick. eisleys contract also equals our TE
what has happened to the bbs. All these dumb post. Doc's post is being blown out of porportion. I know this bbs is smarter than this.
I would love to have Jeff McInnis. The guy has all the skills to make a billups type impact if given the chance. If we could land him from Cleveland, it would be a steal.
