The players we can offer to other teams:

    Lue
    Gaines
    Pike
    AG
    Boki
    MoT
    Howard
    Spoon
    Rights to Spalouniss
    Rights to Badiane
    6.99M TE

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

PG's that can hit the outside shot and are not selfish. I'll consider anyone who's above 33% from the outside, and anyone who's not a big scorer (unselfish). All these players are under contract:

Tinsley (37% this past year, 30% career)
    Marko Jaric
Ben Gordon? We can't judge his game yet.
    Chucky Atkins
Tony Delk (33% careeer, but 30yrs old. Is that relatively young?)
Dooling (career 32%, very up and down, has 35% and 36% seasons)
Damon Stoudamire (30 years old, again, is that relatively young?)
Jason Terry (my favorite, great shooter/passer, effective without ball)
    Mike Bibby (unrealistic)
Mike James (also one of my favorites, hit 37% last year, 34% career)
Roger Mason (not an efficient passer though)
    Eisley (31 years old though)

You make the match. I'm very confident that the player Doc mentioned is in this list. What do you guys think? Doc, any more clues?

While I don't think that there is anyway we could land Bibby, could you imagine the irony in the situation.

Steve claimed he did not want to go to Vancouver because they already had Bibby at point guard so we get Steve.

Now we trade Steve and to have Bibby replace him now would be just too funny.

BTW, Bibby is not just better than Steve... he is superior to Steve. IMHO. Plus he is also younger than Steve.

So they get rid of Arenas to match Etan Thomas?

Miller is not a good fit in Denver??

Miller can't hit a 3-pter to save his life. That's a bad fit for the Rockets.

Arenas is Francis-lite. Rockets would be STUPID to get him.

I predict it will be Jamaal Tinsley.

Indiana has been trying to trade him forever. They need frontcourt size to back up JO after trading Harrington.

Tinsley is also young, not a primary scorer, and a distributor...

It frees $ for $ concious, wanting to match Thomas Wizards while removing a bad signing (who did not get along with Jamison in GS).

Arenas goes to denver where his style fits the run-and-gun desires of Kiki, and asset of KMart.

Miller fits JVG's style well, if his 3 is poor it's poor.

That's my take -- during a lull period in substantive news for/from the Rox.

I doubt this would happen. However, just for fun

If I did that trade, I’d keep Arenas. Arenas would be fantastic.

Like any young player (22), he is erratic and tries to do too much. However, he is very talented and has good size.

Playing on GS and Washington, he was relied upon to do a lot of scoring. It’s very similar to how Posey was on Denver.

Arenas is not a “pure” PG but could learn and do really well here.

We have 2 of the best players in the NBA but we have very little depth or youth. Adding an Arenas could set this team up for the next 10 years.

I doubt we could afford him financially. However, if we had a shot, he’d be a great addition.

Before you find the right “type” of players, you need talent. Contrary to most people here, I do not believe we have enough talent to be serious contenders.

If the talent is not the right “fit”, you can always trade him later.

Don't set yourself up for a HUGE disappointment by thinking we are getting Bibby. Bibby is a huge part of what is going on in Sacramento. Granted they want to slash salary, but I doubt they let loose of Bibby.

I am sure we will get a PG either by FA, Mike James, Damon Jones or by trade, Earl Watson, Chucky Atkins, Antonio Daniels. It will be the caliber of those type players, not someone of the caliber of Bibby.

I just wanted to remind the people of what Chad Ford mentioned last month after the T-Mac deal that would fix the Rockets pg problem. But being it was Chad Ford you can pretty much conclude that none of the players he mentioned will be wearing rockets jerseys next season.

TRADES: Houston's best chance at landing a starting point guard probably will be via trade. Several players, including the Sixers' Eric Snow, the Grizzlies' Earl Watson, the Celtics' Chucky Atkins and the Warriors' Speedy Claxton make a lot of sense.

What are the Rockets offering? They have several things going for them. One, the team owns at $6.9 million trade exception. That means it can take a salary as high as $6.9 million without sending back a player in return. This might be especially attractive to a team like the Sixers, who have been trying to find a taker for Snow's contract for months. Snow's mistake-free, slow-it-down style would be a perfect fit for Van Gundy.

Too bad we can't get and afford him, either.

Nets: Trade forces Kidd to mull his next move
    Friday, July 16, 2004
    BY BRAD PARKS
    Star-Ledger Staff
It's possible Jason Kidd will demand a trade if the Nets don't make an immediate effort to bolster a roster devastated by the loss of All-Star power forward Kenyon Martin.

"He's not there yet," said Kidd's agent, Jeff Schwartz, when asked if his client would ask to be traded. "But Jason is going to be looking very closely at what the Nets' next move is."

You guys are seriously setting yourselves up for disappointment. Mike Bibby? Please. That's like asking us to trade Yao. Antonio Daniels and Damon Jones to... Mike freaking Bibby is a rather huge leap.

I mean, gosh, trading for Jason Kidd, max contract and all (who might possibly demand a trade soon, according to unreliable sources), makes more sense than Mike Bibby, seeing as NJ needs a starting PF (and maybe our TE and draft picks).

I will now wait for the natural progression of CF.net rumors to make the full cycle (in the span of a day):

    1) "We might be getting Kidd?!?"
    2) "OMG. We're getting Kidd!"
    3) "RealGM boards just confirmed Kidd to Houston! It's TOTALLY gonna happen!"
    4) "Kidd doesn't fit our team!" "Yes he does!"
    5) "I wonder what number Kidd will wear..."
    6) "ESPN boards are saying Kidd is buying a house in Houston today!"
    7) "Kidd won't pass to Yao."
    8) "Kidd doesn't pass to Yao."
    9) "Trade Kidd for Garnett!"
    10) "[from Clutch]: 'Guys, we're not getting Kidd. It was never even discussed.'"

Yea, it is exciting thinking about the possibilities of getting Bibby, along with rocksolid's puzzle-solving looking pretty good compared to Doc's post, it is easy to get the imagination all worked up. I agree that Bibby will not be moved unless they get a player or two that will greater their chances of winning it all this season. That is why I thought they would try to get Dampier. So it wont be easy and probably out of the question.

Kidd or Bibby is just as likely as the Lakers' fans 'Shaq for Yao' scenario.

If we get a good passing, low t/o PG and a big body for banging this summer I will be quite happy. I could imagine us then shoring-up with a(nother) serious long-range threat, a defensive stopper/junkyard dog, and maybe a decent backup for Yao next year. We should be ready to contend after that (if and when that team gels).

For the folks that haven't been around for years, and I'm sure someone with a better memory than mine will correct and expand on this, back in the mid-Rudy T era we had a good insider source who went by Popeye wthat wrote very cryptic riddles about what he knew. I believe he lost a bet and had to change his moniker..to Oilpere' which is Popeye in french. I think he got very ill about the same time of the JVG regime change and we haven't heard much (anything?) from him since.

Doc Rocket hasn't been around as long and writes much more directly. He seems to have a position that allows him free reign on the sidelines at the Toyota center. To goad him into revealing his true identity I lovingly refer to him as 'ballboy'.

Note Doc Rocket says "a guy who CAN dribble" and later says "and will NOT dribble, dribble, dribble" -- i.e. a PG who can dribble well but uses the pass to advance the ball. Next, he says the prospective tradee is "relatively young," which puts his age between 25 and 31. Now consider "a trade that comes out of nowhere" -- does this mean a small market team, a trade we haven't thought about at all, or a team in Europe (a $350,000 buyout is a "trade")?

If the player is not Claxton, Tinsley or Jaric, then could he be the European wunderkind PG, Jascilivious (have to go look up how to spell his name)?
