Actually no it doesn't. Refusing medical attention just means she wouldn't allow an on scene officer or the EMTs to take care of her and dress the wound. The wound itself should/would have been careful documented and photographed (excluding serious or life threatening injuries). Actually this happens a lot in assault cases where the victim just wants to get away and in most cases they refuse because they don't want to take an ambulance ride and incur that charge afterwards. This is true. But we also don't know what was said in the commission of this crime. If anything at all. There are rarely silent crimes especially of this nature. As for further evidence unless the report comes our or the vicitm voluteers the info you probably won't here anything more out of the police after they are done with the interview process. Not really. If I didn't do it you would have accused me of being nothing more than a dirty or lazy cop. A lot of you would do that. Heck it has been demonstrated in numerous threads that deal with bad cops on this board. You know that whole "innocent until proven guilty" saying that is rightfully preached around these boards at all time. There is much more danger in not believing her than initially believing her especially for a person like me. Whats sounds more dangerous to you. Not believing her and not following up on this and then finding out there was crime. Or initially believing her and having a followup investigation and in the course of said investigation you find out she is lying and you proceed accordingly from there.
One inetersting thing about the picture is the lack of swelling around the eye. Black eyes happen because of fluid accumulation around the eye. It's damage to the tissue and if this picture was taken shortly after the attack, there should be some swelling around the eye. Also, it's strange that she would immediately post a picture of herself after the attack. If you were punched in the back of the head and mutilated (with possible permanently disfiguring injuries) wouldn't you want to get mediacal help as soon as possible to determine if there was a head injury or a way to treat the wound to reduce the chance of permanent scarring?

Bob- i can appreciate a little healthy skeptism about the story- but the report is from a Pittsburg TV station, not some random blog, and the police are still "treating it as a credible report." i'm just surprised at the immediate impulse to denigrate the woman, not dissimilar to what happened to joe the plumber, or, in it's own way, Palin. interesting insight into the liberal "you're wither with us or agin' us" mind. and in light of the attacks on McCain supporters elsewhere, some of which have been posted here, and Obama flogging the non-existent "kill me" in front of 60M viewers, the report is, sadly, believable.

Wait a minute. I have defended the woman for the time being. But this is completely different than what happened to Joe the plumber. Joe wasn't attacked nor did he have any crime committed against him nor did Palin. Joe the plumber lied to Barack's face. Joe the plumber was thrust into the spotlight not by Barack, but by McCain, and those sympathetic to him. Joe the plumber is used daily by McCain. He is kept in the spotlight by McCain. The man is a liar, and between he himself has done, and what McCain has done, he still isn't a crime victim. Palin hasn't been treated unfairly(except by a few who questioned who was the mother of her child with one too many chromosomes.). You've tried to act like the Couric and Gibson interviews were somehow unfairly edited, but provided no proof of such. Other than that she's been found to have abused her power as Governor, shown by her own words to have no clue what the VP's job actually is. Again, Palin is not the victim of a crime. Is isn't the same at all as to this girl with the B in her face.
