Terrible thing to do to anyone. Catch the dude n' lock em up. But I have a few questions. 1) Why is this being reported as "McCain Campaign Volunteer Attacked"? It seems to me that her volunteering for any political campaign is irrelevant, it's not like the robber knew she volunteered, so why make it a centerpiece of the story since it had nothing to do with the attack? Reportedly, it was a bumper sticker that pissed him off, so why not "McCain supporter mugged"? The way the story is being reported it honestly sounds like this woman was attacked while volunteering for McCain. Which would be absolutely nuts. 2) Why did she refuse medical treatment? That seems really odd, especially if, you know, you've been beaten and stabbed. Getting medical help is usually the first thing I would think to do. 3) How does someone carve something into your face that perfectly? Anyone I know who is being beaten up is not simply going to sit still and let someone go to town on them, especially mutilation, scarring, etc. I'm just seeing a lot of really weird things in this story, and it makes me want to know more. I wonder if the video will be released?

I'm not sure how you got that impression from what anyone has posted in this thread. No one's berating her on how she should not have been there late at night. If anyone did, that would be wrong.
people here have already made me sick. It was mostly a frustration post of anyone could think a girl gave herself a black eye and carved into her own face. This is just an election. Your life is not gonna change. freakin idiots.
It's because people have done stupider things before. That doesn't mean that it is the case this time, but it's better to wait for more information that to have a snap judgment either way. If that makes you sick, I don't care.
It does happen Casey. It's not pretty and it's very sad, but there are people who do this to themselves for whatever reason. Tattoos and piercing are just one aspect of self mutilation.
Actually this election will change a lot of people's lives. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I really think that 2+ supreme court seats and the Iraq war are pretty big deals right about now.

I have no idea whether she did this herself or not. But without some kind of proof, why make the accusation? If someone did this to her, they are sick, and need to be arrested. It is important to the girl and whoever would do something like this. It isn't a big issue in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't do any good to make accusations without some kind of proof right now. The only issue here is basso's off target, and misleading thread title. I wonder how many of those defending this girl were defending the stripper in the Duke Lacrosse rape scandal.
I don't know if Obama was even running then.(I understand that you were joking) But the "don't dare and attack the victim" mentality here would be curious if it was only applied some of the time.
Most of this thread doesn't either. No one knows exactly what happened yet. We get a story reported with minimal detail, and then people assassinate her character based on her politics... which it appears the violence, after the robbery, was already based on. What's next? Digging up her tax records?
