I have an 18 year old niece who's into self mutilation (she lives in Lufkin, go figure). Seems its the rage with the kids these days.
This comment makes you look just as bad as the right wing nuts that claim that Obama is a Muslim terrorist etc. This was a despicable act, and I hope the perpetrator gets arrested and locked up in jail for a long, long time.
This shouldn't change anyone's vote in any case, but for some to show no concern, and just accuse her of doing it intentionally, is pathetic.
One motive would be attention. For herself or the candidate. An example of that would be the professor that vandalized her own car. http://www.marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2004/11/stupid_professo.html It just seems unlikely for an attacker to be able to use a knife behind a person to carve a letter on their face, and leave such small wounds and such a perfect letter. I could do as much with my nails or keys. I admit that my suspicions have a good chance of being wrong, and that the attack happened and was entirely how she described it. If so, I apologize and condemn the attacker as the worst that politics have to offer. Hope he gets prosecuted with the full force of the law then.
Michelle Malkin also thinks it's a hoax, and she's really right-wing. http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/2...nteers-mutilation-story-smells-awfully-weird/
You are walking to your car and someone grabs you around your neck. They walk back and now you are on the ground. You were facing away so now laying on the ground your head is close to them. It is most likely to happen this way otherwise it would easier to fight them off.
That makes sense. What about the fact that the wound is so neat, clean, and shallow though? I doubt that a mugger would be so careful with a knife.
Bob, i thought you were kind of a reasonable guy, but your post appalls me. mark, i've long since given up hope for you, but still, this is a new low. hope? not so much...
???? huh? I mean, yes, I am a reasonable guy. You were correct. I'm not sure why my sarcastic joke about changing my vote was bad. Am I supposed to cry for the scratched woman? My cat scratched me this morning worse than that -- I had to bandage my arm. (The cat is a McCain supporter.) I did not cry; my friend was mugged last night. I didn't cry at that either, though I'm there for him. Am I supposed to cry that this woman had her face scratched with a backwards B by a crazy person? You live in New York, right? Last week, I came to work at 7 a.m. and 10 feet from my office window SFPD was just taping off a double-homicide. Two kids killed in a drug deal gone bad. I will never forget their faces, as if sleeping there, in their (rented) car, headlights on. When I joke about those two kids, then judge me harshly. When I make fun of the idea that Obama (or McCain) is in any way affiliated with the behavior of a nutball skin scratcher at an ATM, I am ...(drumroll) ... using my brain and saving my heart for where it's needed. EDIT: you know, additionally, in case it's not totally clear... Your partisan, inflammatory thread title is exactly why I posted what I did. If you just wanted to relay the incident, without somehow linking it in any real way to a campaign (like Obama is organizing B scratchers?), then yeah, the focus would be on "what a weirdo. I hope he is caught." If I saw a little web story, with a crazy alleged McCain supporter who committed a crime, would I link the "America First!" theme in the thread title. No, I would not. Actually, I wouldn't even start that thread, because it's a distraction and in no way useful information. I think that's why some consider me "reasonable" though.
Who would possible lie about a Black Man doing something he did not do . . . Sincerely, Rocket River I'm waiting on the full investigation . . . but I am skeptical
Whether she did it or not, she is still going through some issues with it. Getting your ass beat will still mess with ya for a bit. Mutilating yourself is a serious psychological problem that is even sadder IMO. Either way she has my sympathy and I hope she recovers. I'll believe her story is legit until its proven otherwise.
