Legitimately? Obviously that would change the circumstances of how the law should treat her. But the way some attorneys have used "insanity", "temporary insanity" and "mentally ill" as an excuse for their clients because of "past abuse" really ticks me off. Lest you think I'm some kind of unsympathetic ogre, I considered Andrea Yates insane.
I have some sympathy for her. I have nothing but contempt for the people who thought this truly evident pathetic story could be used for electoral advantage and decided to not only push it in that direction, but apparently enhance it as well.

Probation for McCain volunteer in fake Pa. attack PITTSBURGH (AP) — A former John McCain campaign volunteer who falsely claimed she was attacked in Pittsburgh because she had the candidate's bumper sticker on her car has been sentenced to nine months of probation. Police say 21-year-old Ashley Todd falsely claimed a Barack Obama supporter robbed and assaulted her near an automatic teller machine in October, scratching a backward "B" onto her cheek in the process. Todd, of College Station, Texas, will enter a probation program for first-time offenders. If she completes the program without incident, her arrest record will be expunged. An Allegheny County judge on Friday also ordered her to perform 50 hours of community service. She didn't comment as she left the courtroom. link
notice basso's typical disappearing tactic. Argue, cast aspersions on people who disagree with him, then once the facts come out that go against the initial stance by basso, he runs for the hills. That's why it's so great to see him in the Suspicious Death thread. Nobody could plan or write a character like basso no matter how hard they tried.
basso started another thread which tries to shame those who noted the coincidence in the shameless death thread. This gem of thread right here, however, shows that he once wasn't bashful about making insinuations, and accusations regarding unproven criminal cases yet. In this thread he even tried belittle those who offered the possibility it was a hoax which was proven to be true. Poor basso, seems to be unstable. I hope whatever's troubling him, gets resolved.
