Yup Cook needs to get waived ASAP. Now that his only value, which was of being used in a trade, is a moot point.

    Bye Bye Cook.

    Scola; Anderson; Armstrong; (Yao)
    Hayes; Hill; Jeffries
    Ariza; Battier; Budinger
    Martin; Taylor
    Brooks; Lowry; Temple

Nice looking roster- depth and talent wise. Rockets now have height, youth, and an added scoring punch. Now Adleman needs to find the right combination of players to make the playoffs.

no argument there....at first Temple didnt look so good, but he has shown slight improvement each time he hits the floor. I especially like how quickly he can press the action.

On paper at least ... we look like a very competitive team -- solid top to bottom this season with Yao back next year.

Jeffries is a limited offensive player, good defender. IIRC he is around 6'10" or so, so he has the length and the ability to guard multiple positions. He gets paid too much for what he brings, but he isnt worthless.

Jeffries is not a push-over. He can play defense and score somewhat. He is avg. 8 pts. 4 rbs. in the past 5 games.

Yes, he came in the trade, and I'm glad we got him. Hopefully our staff can develop him out to be an asset. We can use a 6'11" C/PF backup.

Hi Manny, Great to hear from you again!
Temple has shown much potential and would be worth hanging onto, while Cook is just a body, hanging on! :p

I thought they got some kind of exception during the offseason for Yao's injury where he would not count towards the 15 man roster. I thought I heard something about that, but probably not.

    Brooks/Lowry/Temple
    Martin/Budinger/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier
    Scola/Armstrong/Cook
    Hayes/Andersen/Jeffries

Hill is going down to the D-League where he belongs, and Temple may stick around long enough to be signed and will play backup at the 2 when Martin gets injured.

I think Scola, Hayes, Andersen and Armstrong will all see time at the 4 and 5. Armstrong needs to give more effort on the defensive end, and he along with Jeffries are poor defensive rebounders, according to their scouting reports. I don't think Jeffries (like his soon to be new friend) sees the light of day on this team.

    BTW

If a guy is under an NBA contract (Hill, Taylor), even if he is sent to the D-League, he counts towards the 15 man roster (I think)

    Brooks/Lowry/Temple
    Martin/Ariza/Budinger
    Battier/Jeffries/Taylor
    Scola/Hill/Cook
    Hayes/Andersen/Armstrong (Yao)

i would stay with temple he has a bright future and is 6'6 good speed and defense it would be a good development player

in the case of battier and ariza is a sensitive situation cuz both of them can make different situation happen (imo i would use battier as a staring player but give ariza more minutes )

imo the best thing that happen in that trade date was that the trade deal of the suns wasn't made cuz we would have give 4 player for stodemire (imo i would make a push for him in the off season and stay with scola come from the bench just cuz scola is getting old then try to bring back landry )

in the center no doubt yao is the staring center i would stay with andersen cuz he's been good from the bench in situations, he make the long jumper and are getting comfortable with the system

at the end i would cut just Jeffries, cook and maybe Armstrong

Hayes isn't a push over either. Jeffries is taller than Hayes, but not as strong. He can guard all positions except the speedy guards.

When Yao comes back, Hayes may have to go to the end of the bench because Jeffries pretty much can do whatever he can do.

We'll have to see if Hill and Armstrong are good enough bangers to do some backup center duties.

    THANK YOU

Finally somebody said it. Sending Taylor or Hill down to the D-League wouldn't solve the roster situation.

Aw, thanks Yetti! I have still been around, just not posting as much and definitely not as much in the GARM. That is the great thing about the trading deadline; it always renews my interest in the team with vigor.

JoeBarelyCares - thanks for the update on the roster situation.

Surprising, so he's confident of getting another contract in the NBA after this one?

Cook should not take 1 penny less than the full money, because his NBA days are more than likely over.
