    from my experiences, state troopers are not rare. ill just say that if your driving i-10 west near sonora, beware of "the hawk".

    this law doesnt do anything other than tell cops (city) not to actively persue/arrest possesors of minor amounts. if you get caught smoking a joint in the alley behind a club you arent going to go to jail for it. this frees up the city cops to go after "real" criminals like drunk drivers, thieves, people breaking into cars, rapists, ect.

    austin is very similar, though i dont know that there is an actual law on the books regarding it. cops are very lax in enforcement around here (from personal experience), and i can attest to 1 or 2 being pot smokers themselves. that being said, apd is one of the most worthless, unprofessional police departments you will ever deal with.
