exactly, remember drexler? he was an above average rebounding guard like bonzi and can make up for the lack of rebounding at the 4 spot

Man just imagine... if this were to actually happen think of how much our team has changed in a year.

    1. We now have a nice balance of young players to go with our vets.

    2. We now have good three PG rotation. (I am assuming that VSpan and JL3 will be contributors)

    3. WE NOW HAVE A FEW REALLY GOOD SHOOTERS!!! :D

    4. Multiple players that can shoot, defend and rebound.

    5. I think that the biggest and most important change would be how much tougher a team we would be...

We haven't really seen a tough team since Sura went down. He helped bring out the fire in the guys.

Now we would have a few players that would fill that role. We all know that Battier plays with alot of passion. We saw how intense Spanoulis plays. (Full speed ahead!!) No one can question what kind of toughness Wells has if they have seen him play.

Having these players will help bring out the fire not only in Yao and TMac but in all of the players.

In my opinion I think we have a great balance with our roster (with addition of a 4/5 possibly with the 2.1 exception.)

I think if we land Wells we will have one hell of a team. One hell of a team.

Easily the best team we have had since the championship years.

    Damn...

Wells still looking -- Bonzi Wells' options for a new team, it seems, are down to Charlotte, Miami, Houston and Denver.

The free agent and former Kings shooting guard visited with Bobcats general manager Bernie Bickerstaff on Thursday, a meeting Bickerstaff described to the Charlotte, N.C., Observer as "a good interview" that was not followed by an offer.
Although the Bobcats have the most salary cap room of the other three teams (approximately $9 million), the question of how much of it they would give Wells is another matter.

Wells' new agent, Merle Scott, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel he has talked with the Miami Heat and plans to do so again, and the Houston Chronicle reports Wells met Monday with Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy and general manager Carroll Dawson in Houston.

    Wells turned 30 on Wednesday.

This makes it sound like the 'kittens', is it? are not likely, or at least not feeling compelled, to make an offer.

Could the Rox actually get a very good player for 'free' (except for some millions, of course).

Bonzi Wells' new agent, Merle Scott, does anyone know if he represents anyone on the Bobcats?

I've had this feeling that he is just using the Bobcats, and their cap space, to drive up Wells' cost. Kind of "you talk good about my client (Bickerstaff) than I'll help you out later in player negotiaitions with someone else" type of deal.

    I don't know, just a hunch.

Merle Scott is known in the industry for his integrity and versatility. Motivated by the desire to educate the athlete on the business of sport, and an awareness of responsibility, Scott has worked in the business of sports representation since 1990.

A multi-sport athlete, Scott attended high school in a city that has a strong basketball tradition, Camden, N.J. He was recruited out of high school for football and basketball, accepting a scholarship to play basketball at South Carolina State University. At 6' 6", Scott set a trend for big point guards. He went on to become a draft pick of the N.Y Knicks in the 1982 NBA Draft. He also played professionally in Argentina, Rockford, Ill. in the CBA, and Miami in the USBL.

Shortly after his basketball career ended, Scott began to work for The Xerox Corporation. It was there that he combined his leadership skills and degree in Business Administration, to form his approach as a sports agent. Scott was an assistant coach for the San Diego Wildcards and the Connecticut Skyhawks.

With over ten years of experience in the sports representation field, Scott has positioned himself to be a mainstay in the business. In less than 18th months as Vice President of the Basketball Division at IMG, Scott lead the basketball division towards $125 million dollars in contracts with Nike, Gatorade, Bell, Wilson Sporting Goods, Microsoft, Cadbury Candies, NBA, Dave & Buster's, Fleer, and others.

Scott operates a BDA office in Miami where his duties include representing BDA clients as an agent. He and his wife Sherry have one daughter, Mia and they reside in Coconut Grove, FL.

The Pacers, Sixers, and Trail Blazers also have their full mid-level exceptions available, and some other teams (including the Celtics) have a good chunk of it available. (The Celtics dumped a part of theirs on Leon Powe to give the kid three years.) But in the cases of many of these teams, the payroll is close to the level at which the luxury tax kicks in ($65.42 million), making Wells even more expensive.

The Heat's payroll, for instance, is right around $65 million. Thus, any dollar spent on Wells would be doubled in the form of a luxury tax bill. He signs for $5 million. He ends up costing $10 million. That is a formula only Isiah Thomas could love.

So who else is out there? Portland already had Wells once and that was enough. The Warriors are at the luxury tax level (although they did sign Dajuan Wagner Friday.) The Sixers are staying lean; Philly has done nothing this offseason, lending further credence to the idea that the club is on the block. Indiana is right at the luxury tax threshold.

Which brings us to Houston. The Rockets could certainly use an athletic swingman like Wells. Houston has a $4.2 million trade exception, courtesy of last February's Moochie Norris trade to the Hornets, so it could send the Kings a draft pick in a sign-and-trade. And the Rockets appear to have the payroll room to bring in Wells and not be in luxury tax land.

None of this is exactly a trade secret. What remains a bit mystifying is how one player with such obvious skills is still out there, a week or so before the start of training camp. Normally, it's the Walter McCartys of the world who are looking for work at this particular time.

And, yes, Waltah is available. (Just don't tell Tommy Heinsohn.)

if this is already here...disregard it. from what this reporter, peter may, says the rockets are the only true option for bonzi. he said he would decided this week right? take the contract bonzi, nobody else wants you...i wonder if even the rockets wanna pay him 4.2 for one year?

Man, that deal makes no sense for either team for me. The Warriors already have too many big men trying to find how to get Diogu and Biendrins more playing time, and I don't think neither player fits Nelson's system. And why would the Bobcats trade for two more wing players after signing Wells? Morrison or Dunleavy become a bench player?

That's why I doubt it happens. GS and CHA may have talked, but I'm guessing most of the talks in this league about deals don't end up going down. Just remember all the pre-draft rumors for the Rockets...

Makes sense that CHA is working hard to make some sort of deal w/ Ely, though. Bonzi might end up with the Bobcats.

One way or the other, I don't care. I'm kind of excited to see what Luther Head and Kirk Snyder can do anyway. The only thing that would make me really happy is a Juwan trade.

I'm telling you. Howard and Rybo to Portland for Darius Miles. Or throw in Sura's contract and take Raef.

Ya this thing is dragging too long. Maybe we will sign Bonzi since we are not getting any information on the deals at all. Rockets love to keep secrets to themselves.

It means that they posted a link to a site that Clutch has filtered for one reason or another. It fills in the *'s so the link doesn't work.
