Id be in heaven if this happens.

I dont care what anyone here says about Bonzi.

Ive watched him play for several seasons.

He played fine, when it wasnt a contract year.

he had soem attitude problems, but he was in Portland, a dman wasteland.

He has deep playoff experience, and can do it all.

If we sign Bonzi, i think were fine, and dont need that 4 as much.

He reminds me of a young Jim Jackson, but I'd take him even if it were only for a year..

I was saying all the negatives about bonzi, but somehow i got really hyped up when I heard about rumor.

From Bonzi's perspective I reckon he is just trying to get decent stats in rockets rather than other places, he should have gone to Minny

Possible attitude problem, yes. But we are underrating his 3 point shooting ability by just looking at last year. He's actually something like a 34% shooter from 3 for his career, which isn't bad. And he's had a couple seasons shooting it where he was in the high 30's. In a situation where he gets wide open looks, I think he could actually improve. Not only that, but it seems like when Bonzi has been put in a playoff atmosphere on better teams, he has responded by playing well while on bad teams that didn't have a chance to go to the playoffs, he has had his attitude problems and subsequent to that poorer performances on the court.

I think he can be an okay shooter from distance for us. The only thing I worry about on our team is actually him posting up at the elbows and taking space away from Yao. It would be nice if he would come here and be the 2nd team anchor with that post up game when Yao and McGrady are out of the game but stay away from that when/if he is on the floor with McGrady and Yao. We need 111 running PnR or Yao posting up on the low block and everybody else spreading the floor when they are in there to keep the double and triples off Yao.

Bottom line is if we are able to get Bonzi, it would really open up some other options for us. McGrady, him, and Snyder should get the bulk of the swing minutes with Battier getting a few and perhaps Span getting a few at the 2 if we go small. It would allow us to shift our focus to the 4 and improving ourselves with a bigger/taller 4/5 that can shoot the 3 ball but play effective post defense against the bigger power forwards in this league.

Bobcats make great sense for him because Charlotte is below minimum spending and needs to add salary.

Heat wants a PG and has just one roster slot open. Unless Shandon is not resigned for Wedlls.

    Karl keeps kalling for Bonzi.

If Rox are to sign BW then the TE is an up possibility for Sac to accept + TMac needs to recruit him.

The problem with that is that he has only shot 626 3's in his career. That averages to 78 per year. That also amounts to an average of 26 made per year. His best year was five years ago and that was also the year that he shot the most (but still averaged fewer than one 3-pointer made per game) so that could be a good sign, or it could just have been a fluke that is now five years past.

His outside shooting should be completely underrated because his history suggests that and that way nobody expects him to perform in that area.

Everyone who wants Wells should start hoping and praying we dont get him... Everytime we want something, we get the exact opposite. Maybe we can fool the basketball gods that wish to smite us.

i dont think we need pure shooter at the 2, we need a slasher a guy who can take it to the basket strong who also has a good mid range jumper and can hit a 3 once in a while, i say this because look at the dallas mavericks with josh howard, josh howard is the type of player we need, and bonzi wells fits the need perfectly, im sorry but i dont want no casey jacobsons and jon barrys to be starting for our team, we need the bonzi....howard types

he isnt a great 3 pt shooter but he does add a guy that can drive and finish in the lane. He can operate well in the paint and he could get a lot of backdoor cuts off of tmac or yao.

he adds some consistancy to the SG position, so we dont have to rely on snyder and head to have breakout years for the rockets to be successful. Plus he adds size, versatility and a legit 3rd scorer.

One thing that bothers me is he does tend to miss some games every year with injuries here and there, but nothin serious.

I dont mind giving p a 1st pick, since if the rockets stay healthy the pick will be late late 1st rounder. But, god forbid, knock on wood, if something did happen it would be tough to miss out on another lottery pick.

We wanted T-Mac and Yao...

    Yao/Deke
    Battier/Howard/Hayes
    T-Mac/Novak/Bowen
    Wells/Snyder/Head
    Alston/V-Span/JL III

My concern is his outside shot as well. He gets most of his points (60% of his shot attempts last season) in the paint and he's pretty efficient at those but not so efficient on the rest of the shots. I'd rather have a Ray Allen type, but at this point I'd be willing to take a small 1 year exp contract on him. He's an upgrade over Snyder but he won't help Yao's game much.

My other concern though is that he'll be playing for his stats (to get a better contract - though I think he's in for another rude awakening next year as well) and not for team wins.

Wow. Could sign within the next 48 hours? That would be awesome. I'd still wish we had a better 4 than JoHoward, but I'd be able to live with it if we upgraded all that we have plus added Bonzi this year, then went hard after a 4 next year.

I'll believes this one when I sees it. :)

I don't really have a gut feeling on Bonzi either way. He would help out if he were here. But, all money being equal, who provides the best opportunity not just for winning but for playing time and a way to earn himself a bigger contract next offseason? That's really the question.

I'll admit, a lineup of Alston, Wells, T-Mac, Battier and Yao makes me think we could matchup with just about anyone, particularly defensively.

This 48hrs talk gets me dreamy. However, I think it'd require a sign and trade. I'd be happy with a future 2nd rounder + Trade Exception for a 4 year re-signed Bonzi Wells starting at 4.2 mil.

He immeaditly becomes our 2nd best rebounder, allowing us to play him at the 2,3, or 4. Just like we'll do with Battier and McGrady. :)

Too much versatility. 3rd option. He was 13.5/8 with Sacramento last season.

    I can expect 13/8.5 here.

Let's touchwood, do all of our luck charms and hope he comes to Houston.

I know we are in dire needs of a quality 4, however look at this way; We would be more than capable at rebounding. Yao is 10 boards plus, Wells is 7-8, Mcgrady is 6-8 and Battier can put 6 plus rebounds as well. Even Alston is a decent rebounder! We would be oh so capable of scoring, the only thing we would lack from a traditional PF is the ability to defend the 4. We can always masquerade that in some way...

    Pull the trigger CD.

Absolutely, when Pipen was there he played alot of 3, and on my book, he was the best 3 in the league when they got in the WCF. He is not as quick but man can he play. We will be instant contender for the whole thing.
