    It seems as if teams are trading for la la and not anthony at this point. Is this guy really this whipped over a D-list celeb at best? Getting ridiculous.

    This Melo thing is already getting tiresome. The Rockets should get on with the pre season and move on. If that guy is being traded to some team then get it done too and let us all enjoy the new season with what the Rockets have. It is not like this is a scrub team.

    Carmelo Anthony trade facing some hurdles

    POSTED: 09/23/2010 01:00:00 AM MDT

    While a league source confirmed that Carmelo Anthony's representatives are pushing for the Nuggets to trade him to New York or Chicago, the Nuggets aren't wowed by what they've been offered, meaning Melo could be on Denver's roster when training camp starts next week.
    A deal with the Knicks seems unlikely, because they have little to offer in terms of young talent. Chicago, meanwhile, seems determined to keep young post player Joakim Noah, which might hinder a potential deal between the teams.
    Houston and New Jersey are known to be interested in acquiring Anthony and have much more to offer than New York.

    Always amusing to read the perspective from the other side. If I wanted to say anything to Hochman, it'd be:

    -Forget about Lopez. He's not going to be on the table.

    -No kidding the Clippers aren't going to talk Blake Griffin with you.

    -You can stop referring to the Nuggets as a team trying to knock off the Lakers. Contender status is dead and buried. Your ceiling is now about making it as an 8th seed.

    -The Suns, Cavs, and Raps just watched their top scoring threat walk off and got cracker jacks in return. Melo will absolutely screw you over just as easily this summer when NY drops Curry off their cap. Get a TE*, first rd pick, and a guy like Taj Gibson or Brooks while you still can. At least you won't be paying the luxury tax with a massive back cloud over your head this season. You're screwed w or w/o Anthony.
    * - via 3-way with Cleveland/Toronto

    Uh, . . . Toronto and Cleveland each managed to get a huge TE and multiple first round picks/swap rights simply by doing a sign-and-trade deal. Sure, getting a guy like Brooks would be good; but if the only additional thing you think Denver could get in such a deal is Taj Gibson??? I think the Nuggets would rather just keep Carmelo for another year, sell a few more tickets (drama or no drama) and then take the slightly smaller return via S&T next summer.

    Denver is holding out for more because they already pretty much KNOW what they can get for Melo in a S&T deal next summer. The new CBA will most likely keep similar advantages favoring re-signing with a player's current team over leaving via free agency. If Denver is being offered little more than the "S&T return value", then I see no reason why the Nuggets need to play ball right now. ESPECIALLY if they hold out even a little hope that Melo might change his mind and stay with the Nuggets. He'd have 65 million reasons to do so.

    Agreed. But we know Denver can get more than Taj Gibson right now. After the season, they won't get much more than a huge TE and some low first rounder or a couple second rounders. Not to mention, they've lost a whole year of rebuilding while enduring all the Melodrama and not making the playoffs anyway, and chunking away salary for a non-competitive team.

    Denver knows they have to move him and they know they are sitting on a value declining asset the longer they hold on to him. I sincerely believe he will be traded within the week.

    They also know that if the trade deadline approaches and still no extension gets signed his value could drop to the floor. His stock is as high a its gonna be right now.

    It seems Melo isn't valued very high in the market.
