Melo slows his own progress. He's a thick-skulled chucker that will probably never get the team concept enough to win anything.

by the statistics, they are not really a bad defensive team. by watching them, i actually believe their offense is a bigger problem. i know you will all say im crazy, but it seems they do not even run any plays, which is not a good thing when you dont have a pure PG. carter has been solid, but hes not a starting pg in this league. their offense stagnates alot as there is so much one on one and standing around. so i think karl should take much of the blame for this. they mostly win games purely off talent, and not good execution. they are like the opposite of the rockets, we only have one big name playing right now, but we have solid players and great execution.

but, the nuggets are still dangerous those games when they do have it together. i just hope sunday is not of those days they have it flowing smoothly.

i like the nuggets more than many on this board it seems. if the rockets do not make it ill be rooting for them to upset someone as i cant stand the spurs, mavs, lakers, or jazz. id rather them or GS do damage than any of them. i will pissed if one of them win the title.

i like to watch denver play because of AI and Melo, but you're absolutely correct there is hardly any team basketball being played in denver its really all..."let melo post up and create/ let AI create" the other guys get shots here and there but whats a shame is that they CAN be a good defensive team they have the size and speed to be a good defensive team, they just dont care outside of camby. with AI being the volume shooter he is i dont see them going too far in the playoffs with another volume shot taker in melo. actually i would like to believe that the top 4 teams are probably wishing that they can play denver in the first round over houston (w/out Yao) and GS (if they get in) and obviously dallas

It's George Karl. It's on the coach to implement a system and to play defense.

    Great post.

All that said, blow 'em up. They're done. I hate this *censored* team. On the plus side, my liver will thank them for missing the playoffs this year. Not to mention, I'll be able to enjoy the best first round in NBA history a lot more without being drunk for half of it.

That's not crazy at all. You're right. They are billed as a great offensive team that doesn't play defense, because people just look at all their fast break points and the final score. Actually, they are a gambling defensive team that likes to force turnovers to get easy early offense opportunities. Most of the success they have on the offensive end is due to the pressure they apply on defense. When they get into a half-court, set play situation, they do not have a solid, fluid offense. It's just a bunch of guys playing one on one.

LOL sounds like a Gundy team. Let T-Mac create and be the volume shooter and let Yao post up. Won't work in today's NBA.

Their rotating one-on-five offense is the biggest reason they aren't built to succeed in the postseason. Arenas and the Wizards have the same exact problem. Dallas as well, though to a lesser degree.

Tight, close games in the postseason become like college football overtime. Exchange possessions - the team that is unstoppable trying to score and is also disruptive enough to keep the opponent from matching wins.

In the NBA that translates to a strong halfcourt defense and one or two "you will never stop this" go-to plays. Typically, that favors teams like our Hakeem Rockets. Dream made the paint a no-man zone allowing the others to play tighter/gamble on the perimeter, and no one was stopping him in the post (or they quadrupled him and we had outside shooting practice).

When teams like Denver and Washington have no more offense than a "give it to him and let him work" series of plays, it's not too tough for post-season level defenses to frustrate them. Couple that with poor defense, and the Nuggets and Wizards become a poor bet to go anywhere in April.

    At the half...

    Denver - 54
    Utah - 77

Worst defense ever? They're certainly trying for it.

Seriously JVG would make a great coach for the Nuggets. He'd help Melo's career a lot.

Denver is too inconsistent which makes me think that if there's one team that's going to miss the playoffs among the Suns, Mavs, and Warriors, and the Nuggets, it's going to be the Nuggets.

technically you can't really have the worse defense in NBA history if the team doesn't even HAVE defense.
