168 at the final, i guess one point short of the nba record, friggin' amazing considering the pace of the game when the original record was set.

on a side note, the sonics defense is just unbelievably bad. and they exacerbate it by playing at a fast pace for some reason.

168-116. What a crazy score. But when you have guys like J.R. Smith, Kleiza and Chucky Atkins coming off the bench who can continue lighting up the other team in garbage time, something like this can happen. Too bad it still counts as only one win and the Nugs still won't make the playoffs unless something crazy happens to the Warriors, Mavs or Jazz. Playoffs or not, a game like this is a nice gift for the home crowd.

What is the NBA record for total assists by a team? The Nugs assisted on 44 of their 61 FGs.

Is 168 the highest score in 4 quarters? I think so. Cant recall anything higher than that.

I stopped watching the Sonics a few weeks ago. I'm a huge KD fan but it isn't worth the time because Sonics games are horrific to watch, mainly because of the fast pace and sorry defense you mention. Hopefully Carlesimo gets fired after next season and they bring someone in who actually coaches the players.

Kevin Durant wins basketball games! He should be R.O.Y.

I remember one game in the Dominique Wilkins era when Atlanta scored 90 points in the first half, but they didn't come close to finishing with 168 points

There was that one famous game that ended 169-147. Wilt scored 100 points in that one.

So crazy. The Nuggets have so much talent, nene isn't even playing. Get a coach that will preach effort and they can be tough

I guessed these 2 teams don't know how to play defense. Pretty pathetic.

Seattle Sonic, where "scoring 116 and lost by 52" happens.

Denver held seattle to 40% shooting, did you even watch the game?

When you win by 56 you did everything perfect.

If you thought they play solid defense. I guessed you were watching with blindfold. 2 notorious team that hardly play defense and giving up 100+ point per game.

if you don't think they play defense then you know nothing of numbers and statistics. they're 6th right now in defensive efficiency. playing at a fast pace doesn't equal bad defense. they're not the greatest defense ever, but their offense is relatively worse than their defense. if their offense was as good as their D, they'd be a legitimate contender and probably a top 3 seed.

i think the sonics offensive efficiency was a little below 100 points per 100 possessions tonight, which is pretty low. denver's was something stratospheric like 141 points per 100 possessions. so they did well on both counts tonight, but usually it's the D that's better than the O, most fans just can't notice b/c they only notice points scored.

Quoted for truth. Sadly, no matter how many times this is pointed out, people still come back with the:

"OMG! Nugs don't play D! They suck! Their offense is great!!11!!1!one!"

Detroit just dropped 73 in the 1st half.

    Denver down by 22.
