My take is that if the Rockets lose to LA they are lottery bound, it is over, one of the most incredible swan dives of all time. Absolutely amazing. This team was picked to be in the finals just two weeks ago. Now, they may not even be in the playoffs. I am stunned. Right now, they don't look like they can beat anybody. The Stars are coming up big, but the supporting cast has disappeared.
Agree. Just win both LA games, beat Sonic once at least, and take care of MEM/DEN, especially BEAT DEN, we'll be #6.
its' pretty cool to think that if we're sixth place, that we might have to go through Seattle (50+ wins), then SanAnton (50+ wins), then Phoenix (50+ wins), and finally miami (50+ wins) in the finals.. and we all know what team went on to beat four 50 win teams from the 6th seed to win it all don't we..
This just goes to show how much thought was put into those picks for the Finals. When we were on our incredible run I didn't think we were that good and that all the talk about Finals were overblown. Right now I don't think we're that bad. Just as we should've been concerned about things like fatigue and injuries then we shouldn't throw in the towel now. This team just needs to do what people always say but rarely live up to. Take one game at a time. This team also needs to live up to the core tenet of Rockets success: Stay humble, stay hungry. All this talk of that we should blow away the Lakers and should beat the Sonics since they're not playing as hard as they should be aren't helping. We can't take anyteam for granted right now and need and can play up to our best every game. As much as I've criticized JVG in the past I know he has done this before with undertalented Knicks teams and now is the time for him to do it again with this team.
I have confidence that JVG has said some things after this loss that hopefully can wake these players up because they got a little too overconfident after their surge, please shooters find your shots in time.
If we slide to 7, then why not lose a couple more games and move down to 8? If we play Phoenix in the first round, I think we have a decent shot and upsetting t them - especially with how Amare always struggles against us.
If we slide to 7, we'll play the Spurs, i know we lost to them without Tim Duncan before, but i think we can still beat them...
We won't be much better with all the injuries we are suffering right now. Our ONLY hope is that our players SOMEHOW find their streak and start knocking down shots. If that doesn't happen, It will be a REAL struggle just to hold off the T-Wolves. All our opponents right now (Denver, Memphis, T-Wolves) are getting healthier and better at this point. Us? We are going the other way... BTW, In case of a tie, who has the tie-breaker: Minnesota or Houston? Because if we do, then assuming Minny wins all its remaining 7 games, we have to win 3 out of the next 7 to clinch a playoff birth. If they have the tie breaker, then we need to win 4-of-7 assuming Minny sweeps the rest of the way.
Put a fork on the 6th seed...it wont happen. Denver and Memphis won again!!! They are not going to beat Seattle and Phoenix on the road. Memphis and Denver will be tough home games. Right now, I feel lucky if we make it in the playoffs. Rockets are a bunch of cry babies right now.
Minn. has the tie breaker and if we lose to LA it will seem like they are tailgating us when we look in our rearview mirrror
