I disagree. Denver is pretty tough. If the Lakers are victorious in Round 2, I'd favor them in Round 3. If the Rockets come out, it's by no means automatic that they can beat Denver. And, any of these teams is going to have a real hard time beating the Cavs in the finals.
Too bad Iverson and Fatman brainwashed these players into Iso. The Denve Uggets will not be prepared enough this year. In the near future? Maybe, but not now.
i agree, denver is tough. I watched a lot of nuggets basketball the last two yrs and difference has been night and day. billups makes a huge difference and birdman is ten times better than camby. carter and D.Jones give them great toughness and nene has come along nicely. of all the teams in the west right now, denver is the only team that plays great focused basketball for 48 minutes. Their defense is not great but they turn it up at the right moments, which i think is the biggest reason they have been winning like they have. I don't think they can win the championship cause cavs and lakers are in the way but I would not be surprised if they beat the lakers. Lakers can get away by being lackadasical at times cause they are very good offensively but against denver it might bite them in the ass. denver is also very good offensively. They get to the line a lot, force turnovers, fast-break baskets. all the makings of an exciting team that also plays good defense.
If you were from Denver or Dallas, DD, you'd be making fun of this comment. LA is for sure the cream of the crop in the West. And yes, Denver is 2nd tier...but they are ahead of Houston and Dallas for sure. If Houston beats LA, Denver will beat Houston. Obviously I'd hope Houston would make it to the finals, but they won't.
I DISAGR. I think LOS ANGE, HOUST, or CLEVE have a chance, too. Besides, DENVE has to beat DALLA first anyway. CHAUNCE is the X-factor for DENVE.
I agree. The Denver Nuggets will be the 2008-2009 Northwest Division Champions at the end of the postseason. Excellent post.
That's a dumb argument. Sure, Houston has a better chance of beating Denver than LA...but just because LA chokes and loses doesn't automatically mean Denver would lose as well.
LA is the huge favorite. If they lose in the 2nd round, everybody would say they choked regardless of how well our Rockets play.
You're defending a ridiculous argument. Denver isn't going to lay down if the Rockets beat LA. Being good enough to beat LA doesn't mean you'll have the requisite mix to beat Denver. You can say you are confident the Rockets would beat the Nuggets, but don't say there's no way they'd lose.
people need to stop penciling n the cavs to the finals... they have problems with the orlando magic. they are no lock for the finals people. i know this a rocket board, but please stop overrating the rockets. people around here talk like we are on the same level as the lakers, WE AREN'T!!! we would have plenty of trouble with this athletic denver team. they couldn't stop yao huh ??? how about when they start fronting him ?? did you all forget about that ? keep in mind this is the playoffs, and denver would have time to focus completely on us and how to stop us. yao is not that difficult to take out of a game, then we must depend on the terrible shot selection of ron artest. doesnt matter because we wont beat LA anyway, but denver probably will advance against dallas.
Dallas/Denver has looked good because they're in the scrub half of the bracket: New Orleans Hornets -- we all know they weren't very good. San Antonio Spurs -- Too injured to be any sort of threat. Dallas Mavericks -- They're hot at the right time, but falter against good teams. Watch. Denver Nuggets -- Good, but not as good as any of the teams in the other half of the bracket. The Rockets, Jazz, Blazers and of course Lakers are all better than every team on the other half of the bracket. The team that wins the scrub half will have beaten scrub teams. Whoever wins the Houston/L.A. series will win the West.
LOL... oh please you only say that because the rockets played the blazers. if denver had destroyed portland instead and we beat NO, you'd be calling portland a scrub team and NO good. and denver didn't just beat NO, they embarrassed them. i can bet you the rockets would not have been able to do that. also, i doubt we could beat dallas in a series. none of us are anywhere near the lakers, but denver has that potential because of how much talent they have in their lineup. "Whoever wins the Houston/L.A. series will win the West." <--- that quote is only true because of the lakers... the lakers WILL win our series, and probably the west.
Houston is a better team top to bottom than both Denver and Dallas, it is all about matchups. In fact, Houston is better than any team still in the playoffs not named Los Angeles. They are just better on D, and have a better mix....Lebron is the best player but the Cavs do not matchup with the Rockets very well, same with Denver and anyone else. DD
Well, if the Rockets beat LA then I hope you're right. But Denver, in my opinion, is looking very good right now. Not good enough to beat LA or Cleveland, but pretty damn good.
