I am getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth out tomorrow.....ironically it was cheaper to get all 4 done than just 2.....

I am going under - anyone have experience with this? What sort of pain can I expect?

It'll hurt really bad for the first 2 or 3 days but luckily the medication will take all the pain away. I had mine taken out 2 summers ago and it sucked not being able to chew. Make sure you follow the doctors instructions on rinsing to fight the infection otherwise it'll end up being worse than taking the wisdom teeth out. Also, stay away from chewing as much as possible. Milk shakes and swallowing ramen noodles was all I ate for a while.

Back on topic, I was actually looking for this thread earlier. I've had pain in one of my teeth that had a filling done years ago when I was kid. Not sure if the filling fell out or I may need a root canal but I'm looking for cheap options seeing as how I'm not currently working and don't have insurance. It mostly hurts only in mornings when I wake so I've decided to skip breakfast. Brushing my teeth usually helps the pain go away and within a couple of hours I feel nothing. Is this normal?

Wow, all four at once. I got mine out when I was in the 9th grade I believe. I had two taken out at a time. You're going to have some bleeding for a few days and I'm sure you will get plenty of pain killers, but the pain shouldn't too bad. I suspect your cheeks will look extra puffy for a while.

Had my first cavity at the age of 47, and it was on lower wisdom tooth, so doc said, just yank it...I was like...ok...then he goes, well you have to take the top one too as it will slide down without the bottom one to hold it in place.

    So I was like...uhhhh....ok.....

Then the insurance would cover more if I get them all out, so it is $200 cheaper to do them all......

YIKES.....I said....but gonna do it anyway.

I've heard that getting your wisdom teeth out is just a money grab for dentists. Anyone else hear this?

Did you ask him if filling it would be ok? A perfect set of chompers at 47 and you get a cavity and they want to yank it?

I didn't go under when all 4 of mine were removed, just local anesthesia. My dentist was actually pretty awesome. They just applied the topical gel then gave me the shot and I was good to go. He said, "I'm just going to poke around a bit and tell me if you feel anything." Literally 2 minutes later he says "OK, three of them are out." I had no idea. The fourth one had to be cut because it wasn't coming in straight but still no pain. It was just uncomfortable, especially when I could smell burning coming from the tooth where he had to cut it.

They prescribed vicodin for the pain and I was back at work that Wednesday. I went in on a Monday.

It was Dr. Herzog at FLOSS Dental here in Houston in Midtown.

Wisdom teeth are tricky. I know people that were suffering for days and people who were back to normal, with no pain with no meds in less than a day. It just depends on the person.

Wisdom teeth also grow in differently, as well, but even if they grow in correctly, the reason for pulling them is that it's harder to clean all the way back there and harder to maintain them.

Just read your post, I had all 4 taken out at once myself two years ago.
Not fun at all. Did yours all come out in one piece? I'm asking because if they didn't and they had to break them up you'll have shards of teeth pushing themselves out of your gums for weeks.

They do braces at the school as well with the orthodontics department. You have to go through the clinic first and get your cleanings/fillings/etc first then when your all good to go they can push you through to the orthodontics department.

if your still interested, email me and we can set something up.

I used to have a cavity, and it hurt really bad. But then I prayed about it and the pain went away.

At least you are this far along. You should be doing pretty well by the weekend.

I've read this, too. From what I saw, if there's no problem, then there's no reason to remove them. I'm probably going to have mine done sometime this year as I know I have a cavity in one.
