my sister calls me from phoenix the saturday after thanksgiving asking if i could run to wal-mart to pick up something she was buying for my nieces for christmas. i think to myself what an awesome brother i am as i pulled out of the driveway, but dreaded the entire scene. i had my girlfriend drop me off at the front and as i walked into the super wal-mart by katy mills, i couldn't believe the lack of cars and people inside. unreal. it was like it was 1:00am instead of 1:00pm.
Yeah, ya gotta figure Denny's just turned into a really crowded soup kitchen. And if people can riot and/or trample at Wal Mart over half-off, who's saying there won't be a situation or two at Denny's?
I wish I could have taken advantage of this but I had school today and I didn't want to wait in the line anyway.
I have no problem with that, especially if at least some of it's going to the delivery guy. Think about a big game day, or a bad weather day, and being the one or one-of-two guys who has to make all those stops. Often times, there are more than a few local pizzerias - usually the best ones - that don't deliver, ever, so I don't mind paying extra for the service; up front or not.
Which is worse, someone willing to walk right into a Denny's and pay for a Grand Slam, or someone willing to wait half an hour for a free Grand Slam? The world may never know.
LOL! A bunch of people at the Rosenberg Dennys got their cars towed while eating their "free" breakfast.
A.) Someone asks you to drive out of your way, stand in line (possibly outside) for 30 minutes, and they'll give you six bucks. B.) Someone asks you to drive out of your way, stand in line for 30 minutes, and they'll give you a free breakfast, after which, you'll leave a tip of a couple of dollars. Scenario A: they'd tell you to get lost. Scenario B: People think it's the greatest deal in the world.
I don't get all the knock on people wanting a free breakfast. Not everyone is fortunate enough to eat caviar for breakfast!
Line at the two nearest our home was around the building every time we passed one (went to some banks near them, job hunting, etc.)... There was no way we'd have attempted the wait for $2.99. But, as usual, we went to kids eat free night later on this evening, and they gave us rain checks for the grand slams because we told them the line was around the building.. so, double score! The waitress we usually see, and/or have, told us that when she got there this morning at 6 for work, people had already been in line since 5:30... and they were rude, asked her to prove she worked there saying she was, "cutting in line." Then she said, most of them left no tips. If they left one at all it was like 50 cents! We felt led to give her a great tip tonight, so we added $20 to the total. We've had it rough lately, but dang, dude.. people gotta respect that this is a wait staffer's livelihood usually. And stiffing the help is just bad mojo. She teared up when she saw her tip. We told her she deserved it. That felt cool.
