yeah, i just never found maher that funny but the show wasnt bad. But he does just do the stereotypical "hollywood liberal" rants that sound nice superficially but when applied to reality are just flawed.

Miller, although he is conservative he is pretty fair and obviously a smart guy . I use to catch his radio show and it was nice to have someone who evaluated things pretty fairly, of course he has admits he is conservative, but he listens to well thought out and actually good arguments that may disagree with his. ANd its nice to listen to a guy not constantly spewing hate

i'm pretty sure there was some tongue in cheek there. lighten up francis. .

as a career/comedian/ and such , Miller blows mahr out of the water. I not really sure how it could be seen otherwise...other than voting politically more so than career wise and what they have done

i referenced this a little in my other post, but he isnt a hardliner that sticks to his guns even when there are no bullets in it. He is a guy who is willing to change his mind and not just stick to the company line. refreshing ,imo

    wrong again

bill mahr does not do "typical liberal" comedy, for example he was on the side of don imus.

of course he was, thats obvious! he is an entertainer! He is a guy who says controversial things and he wants likes that freedome.. I would venture to say that most comedians and such were on imuss side in that he was overly ridiculed.

Having nothing to do with their politics, but based solely on their personalities:

I would love to have a beer or 15 with Dennis Miller. I couldn't stand 2 minutes alone with Maher's pretentiously smirky smugness.

Seriously, how can you *not* want to smack a guy that makes this face:

    :)

true. If the poll was "the beer test" miller should win in a landslide. You'd just have to take an encyclopedia and dictionary with you when you meet miller

I use to like them both
    and I like Political humor
[right about now Lewis Black kills both of them put together]

It just seems like it is more about getting out the message
    than getting out THE FUNNY

Watching them is like watching MAN OF THE YEAR
over and over and over and over again

ok . .maybe not that bad :D

I feel almost the exact opposite. I want to have a beer or 15 in a bar where both Dennis Miller and Bill Mahr are. Then I want to smack them both in the face.

The biggest joke Bill crafted was his idea of running for presidency.

    hik hik hik.

But Miller sucks, his views, his humor, his looks.

Look at Maher. Dude needs a beating. Though if Miller still does that little hair flip like on SNL in the old days, he qualifies for one too.

As a non-tv-owning-guy, I haven't seen either in years, so I'm going solely off memory here. Miller earns superhuge bonus points for busting out the greatest line in MNF history, talking about Mark Schlereth & his umpteen knee operations:

"He's been scoped more times than a redneck abducted by aliens."

To me, today's political humor, much like todays's political discourse, has become so divisive and adolescent that it's not even fun anymore.

SNL is the one exception. Even if the show isn't funny anymore, their political skits are always right on. And they make fun of everyone equally, which makes them more credible IMO. Their only agenda is making people laugh.

I agree with both of these statements.

And Buck, they both need to be beatdown. There's probably a poster of Dennis Miller as he's the poster boy of the fear they want to instill in us. I really don't want to get any further into this though, but Miller went from being middle of the road guy who'd bash anyone to little scardey cat needing big ol' Rudy Giuliani to save him.

Everyone keeps forgetting that it was a popular hairstyle in the 80's. Hell, I had one. Brian Bozworth, anyone?

Ugh, you should see my ultra-terrible mullet from 8th grade. Surprisingly enough, that was about my pulling tail zenith as well. I'm gonna go cry in a corner now.
