As for the 26th pick -- I really like what I read about Crittenton, but he will be gone long before us. I don't know how high up #26 and say, Luther Head, could take us. They key would be finding a team that needs Luther.

I think Luther may become expendable more if we stay at #26 because some of the guys who interest me seem to be threes or bigger twos. Morris Almond, Marcus Williams and Derrick Byars all have my interest started (though it's early) .... I'm not sure what to make of Jared Dudley yet.

im not particularly PG hungry as some are but crittenton and his size for that position would be big.

Im just think the rockets need someone who can come in an play SG with some decent size, but also be able to handle the ball.

i think dudley will be a solid pro, he is a smart player that plays tough and has pretty solid all around game. He actually reminds me a big of harpring.

I'm still on the badman bandwagon. Per Lindsey it doesn't seem like the Rockets are keeping in touch with him. Something to the effect when about not being in touch with him yet to play on the summer league team. You guys that knocked him, you look like great general managers. Badiane was the guy I wanted and it looks like he is destined to work at ups.

    Clutch -

I'm glad you've expressed particular interest in Morris Almond, (local Rice product for the uninitiated) a guy who's capable of absolutely shooting lights out, and has done so on many nights for the Owls.

It seems like Almond has received very little attention here and I can't figure out why. Was he flamed in a previous thread?

Granted, Rice is not exactly Florida or even UT but it's still Division 1A basketball and they play some serious teams (like UT). If we can't pick up a Kevin Durant, then dammit let's go shopping for somebody who can actually get on the floor and shoot the ball when Yao is triple teamed!!!!

I was looking into Morris Almond and found out that although he is suppose to be a shooting specialist he manages to get to the free throw line more times per field goal attempt then any other guard entering the Draft out of the NCAA. I am really starting to hope we draft this guy.

Well, the more I read from ya'll the more I get amused. I really thought this offseason was going to be boring.

    The Value:
Let's see there is the #26 pick and the MLE; and they have a couple of players who have trade value, I perceive "Battier and Head". And with Battier not showing up on the stats sheet all that much, it would be easy for him to be undervalued; therfore not getting full value in return. And they also have Bob Suras expiring contract.

The guys with a foot out the door:
I thought it was a foregone conclusion that Well, V-Span, Snyder, and Mutumbo would not be returning by either trade or being released. All of them didn't get the playing time they thought was warranted based on their potential contribution. But Adelman might have a change of heart regarding all of them; either by the team or by the players themselves.

    Potential new fits
Francis, if the Knicks buy him out!! Bibby, if there is a trade by Sacramento, which is entirely possible since he appears Sac is rebuilding. Lewis, could he do a sign and trade to come back to Houston. Maybe a Mike James, a spark plug off the bench for offensive woes.

    Conclusion:
It is my opinion that the Rockets don't have a lot of chips. But there is a possibility the parties involved can get creative if a player wants really wants to come to Houston; remember the past? ANYTHING can happen; let's never forget that in the past Drexler, Barkley, Francis, and McGrady made trades to Houston happen. In each of those cases, I think the other team could have gotten more than the Rockets gave up; therfore getting the best of the trade. Drexler & Murry -for- Otis Thrope; Barkley -for- Cassel & Horry (+filler); Francis -for- Dickerson, Harrington (+filler); McGrady & Howard -for- Francis, Mobley and Cato.

It's exciting to see that even when there isn't an expectation that the Rockets improve dramatically, there is a chance and a way to actual improve the team; catapulting it back into the realm of the Contending West!!

That is a "treatable" condition. Aciphex works well. ;)
