well the fake/dream/very unrealistic lineup i posted above the rebounding would be adequate considering the positives of everything else.

wells/mcgrady/lewis would get enough rebounds in my opinion

agreed, Lewis isn't an upgrade over Hayes at all.

Please tell me you're joking. Lewis is going to put up 20 wherever he is on the court and someone will actually have to guard him. That MORE than makes up for the few rebounds you'd lose and the points a (rare) Duncan type PF would score assuming the double team was late.

Is that Lewis' optimum position? Probably not. But Hayes over Lewis...that's a joke.

I wouldn't say scoring PF's are that much of a rarity in the west...and asking Lewis to guard any of them would definitely compromise his offensive efficiency.

not only will we lose out on rebounds if Lewis is our PF, but he also has to guard their PF's. ever think about that? and with the western conference, you can't have a softy playing PF. and if bonzi plays SG, theres gonna be alot of penetration into the paint...where we would have Yao picking up fouls all the time. LEWIS IS NOT A FREAKING POWER FORWARD PEOPLE!!!!!

Scoring PF does NOT equal low post PF!!!

Dirk, Garnett, Gasol, Odom, & Marion to name only a few are NOT low block PF's.

for every dirk, odom and marion you have a brand, boozer and west.
and you can't tell me Gasol and Garnett wouldn't lick their chops at taking Lewis down to the block and going to town...

by putting Lewis on PFs you also take away his mismatch in the post (where he is actually quite proficient)

I understand your argument though...and ultimately the line-up we decide upon will be a direct result of the pace RADelman decides to play at.

actually Gasol and Garnett are post players. Garnett just has the range out to the 3. Lewis would get creamed by all of those guys except maybe Odom. Rashard isn't exactly known for his defense.

I guess we will have to wait till the summer league to find that out. If he doesn't he might end up being a tweener. It was interesting to know that other teams were interested in his rights which might be useful +the 26th pick if we could move up in the draft.

No more than they already do for Hayes. Don't you think Duncan would dread gaurding Lewis. He would either have to take him or Yao and they always put Tim where he can't pick up fouls. You have to remember the matchup problem goes both ways.

I'm going to go ahead and start an "Adelman ruined Eliyahu" thread to beat the rush.

Not trying to be a know-it-all but. It's way too easy to lose sight of the fact that Chuck Hayes is 25th of 440+ NBA players in Personal Fouls per 48 min...7.9/48m. What Hayes does, he does well. But unless a player has some semblance of all around game, he's a liability. IMHO, that's the primary difference between a starter and a rotational player.

Would putting a guy like Lewis, who isn't known as much of a post defender, at the PF spot be more successful than Battier's attempts early in the season? I mean, Battier was getting destroyed trying to guard the likes of Boozer. I remember a lot of posters being confident that Battier could handle it, citing the limited minutes he had played at the 4 in Memphis. But, man, it was evident quickly that Battier would get crushed if we tried to leave him there. How do we know this wouldn't happen with Lewis?

Disclaimer...I don't recall much of the Battier at PF experiment so someone can feel free to enlighten me.

That said, on the Duncan's and Boozer's of the WC, put Yao there and the quicker, longer Lewis on the Oberto's and Okur's of the WC. As far as the Dirk type PF's, McGrady and Ryan Bowen did a good job two playoffs ago. I'm conffident Lewis could handle those types.

Anyone else rather hold on to the 26th (Afflalo, Fazekas, Byars, Almond, Gray, Tucker, Pruitt, etc) than worry about developing Eliyahu or Badiane? There are some proven guys ready to contribute at 26.

Posters make it seem like it was an honest experiment. I didn't get the preseason games here in College Station but in the regular season we barely saw it. JVG quickly put an end to it because his scheme counts on controlling the defensive glass. Something I agree completely with.

It also took Battier our best perimeter defender and subjected him to guarding bigger low block players, it was a misuse of resources. Wouldn't you rather have Battier shutting down Rudy Gay or Mike Miller than trying to stop Gasol? It also forced McGrady to take on tougher assignments.
