I think Biden said things equally as damaging and if not for Lieb endorsing McCain this would not even be an issue.
on what basis? show me why lieberman deserves chairing a committee on which he has repeatedly absconded from his responsibilities. what homeland security issue is he on the side of dems? name me one. he refused to investigate katrina response AFTER HE CAMPAIGNED that he would. he absolutely did no oversight. he warned glen beck AGAINST having a 60 vote filibusterer proof majority for dems.

Let him keep his less important assignments. There's no way he should keep that Homeland Security chairmanship. If he doesn't like it, let him caucus with the Republicans. If he votes against his own conscious, the tragedy will be complete.

I didn't say the two party system was hosed. I said both parties were full of crap. The current crew, both repub and dem are unable to suspend party loyalty and their own self interests for the benefit of the country. Can you not see the role partisan bickering and corruption/greed in the upper echelons of gov't has played over the past 20 yrs? But it's not really the system that's broke, it's the participants....and us for reelecting the same greedy partisan fools over and over again.
I find it funny that congress always has such a low approval rating but incumbents have such an advantage in elections.
That's because it's an incredibly efficient scapegoat structurally. It's a nice big mass of people that can collectively be blamed by everybody, since no matter what your polticial leanings, there is somebody, somewhere you can get riled up about. In additin there are lots of individual members always geting in to trouble about something. Even better whenever it does something right, nobody can really take credit because the net positives are usually long term, way after the legislation has passed, and most of the actual legislating isn't really that tangible a process anyway. I doubt Congress' approval rating will show anything other than minor upticks due to external events like wars, etc. at any point in the next 100 years no matter who is in charge or what they are doing.

If Obama made the call, then bad on him. However, Obama resigned from the Senate. Reid is still Majority Leader. If he has to go to Obama and ask what should be done or if he lets Obama's opinion sway him, then bad on him. I don't want to see a Dem Congress mirror the travesty of the recent Repub rule. I want a Constitutional balance restored and I want the Congress to act like the co-equal branch they are and not look to the WH, whether it be w's or O's, for guidance on how they should act. So, regardless of what Obama said, Reid and the Senate Dems deserve the blame here... they were either too cowardly to kick Joe out on their own or they were so cowardly that they had to have a president-elect tell them what to do.
I, for one, am happy that they aren't going to run congress like its Tammany Hall. I want a congress in which elected representatives vote their minds, not just vote how the majority leader wants because they are afraid of loosing their job. I didn’t like it when the Republicans threatened and tried to intimidate their own members who voted their consciences. I can’t very well do otherwise here without being a hypocrite. I’m sure all the people who hate on Lieberman are equally upset about all the republican defections for Obama right? If Lieberman should be hanged, then you should have no problem when the minority leader does the same with Chuck Hagel, Wayne Gilchrest, etc.
