What bills and policies passed by Democrats in the past 10 years have soley served special interests and not the people?? Biden’s infrastructure bill primarily pumped money for projects in RED states. Democrats could send a million dollars to every red state trump voter in the country and they still wouldn’t vote for them much less have a conversation and a relationship with them because their minds are so polluted from decades of right wing propaganda. Bill Clinton wasn’t a successful politician from a deep red state because he was slick and down to earth so he knew how to talk to people. He was able to actually find an audience of people to have a conversation with because we lived in a time back then where if people knew you were a Democrat they wouldn’t automatically think you were there to drain your child’s blood, send your son off to become a trans women, and force you to a mosque to start practicing Islam. The Democratic Party has issues yes… and the Democratic Party politicians are a bunch of human beings with flaws and shortcomings yes… but we are failing to discuss here that the issue is that they cannot even get in the room to actually have a discussion with half of America with an open mind because nothing they could ever talk about would be taken at face value and because they are a democrat half of America immediately is in opposition to them because of right wing propaganda and the insane peer pressure that geographical MAGA social circle puts on people in certain areas of the country to where if you aren’t MAGA you might as well be an alien.
But you can't argue that people don't have an opinion about it even though it's dumb to put that much energy into it. Talking about trans as much as we do is diverting us from focusing on more pervasive issues. Healthcare for all, taking care of the poor, taking away the right to choose from 52 percent of the population, jobs and opportunity for young people, housing. These are things everyone but the greedy rich people care about, but we spend more time talking about if some former guy should be allowed to swim against women. Democrats fall into the trap every single time. Talarico has done a pretty decent job of refocusing people on these issues. He just says let's not talk about that and talk about really important stuff that effects us all. All Democrats should take that approach.
PLATNER is exactly the direction that that democratic party should embrace - he and others like him are the future. DD
Agreed. Man, but everyone who has the slightest inkling of running for office should be very aware there present and most importantly their past is out there for all to see. But I will say if he was a Trumper these posts and tattoos would be swept under the rug or shrugged off as a foolish youthful gaffe. Trumpers are good at sheltering those who bend the knee.
I called this on page 1 post #15. Minimum effort opposition research almost immediately brings this guy down.
Even if its not an explicitly Nazi tattoo. Perhaps think better of electing someone to represent you in the Senate who thinks, "You know what I need? A giant skull and crossbones tattoo plastered across my chest. That's a good idea." These people are morons. *Upon looking at images of the aforementioned tattoo... it does bears a striking resemblance to the Nazi iteration of the skull and crossbones. *Not like some Pirate one.
this sounds r****ded I don’t give a sh*t that a 20 something year old marine got a chest tattoo he thought looked cool at the time…big fcking deal on the reasons not to elect someone, a chest tattoo doesn’t even register
The totenkopf appeared on the uniforms of the SS - this is not an example of "co-opting." Platner also has a problematic social media history and worked for Eric Prince's company as a mercenary. I think Platner can still have a political future, but he needs to run for a state or local office first and prove that he's a genuine progressive. After being duped by Fetterman, Sinema and Gabbard, the Democrats can't afford to have another poorly vetted person in the Senate - no matter how appealing his campaign ad messaging may be.
the only other serious challenger to Susan Collins is 79 y/o Janet Mills Does she have a better chance of beating Susan Collins than Platner, or any chance at all? She is backed by Chuck Schumer, so I have my doubts I understand the worry about another John Fetterman situation tho
Imagine saying with a straight face that Democrats only serve special interests at a time Trump is openly selling pardons to the highest bidder lol. How shameless do you morons sincerely have to be You're a smart individual but the guy youre quoting is a low iq troll.
Man, none of us are experts in Maine politics, it's not just "Platner or a 79 year old lady" there are like 6 other people in addition to Platner running (including the guy who owns Maine Beer Co., which is really good) and the primary is in June 2026 https://www.mainepublic.org/politic...mocratic-senate-primary-is-taking-early-shape
Janet Mills is one of the least popular governors in the nation. She is old, not well liked but has name recognition. She also has the truly questionable Chuck Schumer stamp of approval. Platner is a mystery. He is running for his first political office, never been truly vetted and likely has some serious political oppo that the Rs are dying to roll out. But ... he is young, popular and a good communicator. In the end, if Platner can beat Mills, he can beat Collins, who remains very popular in the state of Maine. Mills will likely run the same Platner oppo that the Rs will run. I suspect that Platner will be able push back on most of this. (FWIW I don't know how the Rs can be taken serious with this **** given who Trump is.) In Collins last election (2020), she ran against a solid D opponent and easily won. All of the baggage perceived by the Ds did not hurt Collins. But ... the price of eggs.
Isn't that happening with this guy now? Red says "bad" and blue says "not really that bad"? Same coin, different side. The internet is forever, but it is possible to change. Guy was in the military and trying to look macho. Maybe he knew, maybe he didn't. I'm not sure I care, but I'm in Texas and noting voting in Maine so my opinion doesn't matter. I just think it's funny when people will blast the other side while literally doing the thing they're blasting the other side about.
Will never forgive the rather large percentage of Galaxy Brain morons of Maine who went Biden-Collins - one of the worst legislators of her generation. Like really, she is very public senator, and she is very bad at everything she says is her priority; she doesn't get anyting, she just expresses her famous concerns. She is now the chair of Appropriations at a time when the Executive (that she voted for) completely (illegally) ignores any Appropriations bill. She literally gets a **** sandwich every single day, and then tries to sell it to Mainers. I think she is probably toast regardless of who runs against her, fwiw.
