I'm sure some of you may recall the 1972 election, when George McGovern had picked Thomas Eagleton as his running mate. A couple of weeks later, it comes out that Eagleton had had electroshock treatment for depression in the '60's, causing Eagleton to offer to withdraw as the VP. McGovern accepted and named Sargent Shriver, future father-in-law of Arnold, current Governor of California, as his new running mate. Things went downhill from there for McGovern and the Democrats, not that he had much of a chance anyway, unless more of Watergate had come out earlier. Pity about that.

So if there was a scandal, which there won't be, Obama could withdraw and the convention would vote someone else in. Post-convention? Beats the hell out of me! Thank goodness that it won't come up.

    Impeach Bush. Hurry!

one of the more interesting features of the bbs is the search function. try "johnson plame." some great stuff from rimmy, mark, et al, referencing johnson's reporting. yet now, when it doesn't suit their purposes, he's just a rovian stooge.

    hilarious.

I added "rimrocker" to your search. Here are the posts you must be referencing as hilarious...

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=1126899&postcount=54

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2784179&postcount=113

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=1062069&postcount=1

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=1047182&postcount=5

The first three find Larry Johnson mentioned in articles... in each he provides a quote or two that talks about CIA procedure and is not relevant to the larger story. At no point do I even mention Larry Johnson in a response.

The fourth is a reference to Lyndon Johnson.

As for mc mark, here are his:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2783034&postcount=87

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2123737&postcount=3

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=1930920&postcount=415

The middle one is another reference to LBJ. The other two once again have Johnson's name in the middle of an article by a legit news source. At no point does mc mark cite Johnson specifically.

Aside from the recent "Whitey" episode, this is the only article I could find that either one of us ever posted that was authored by Johnson, and it addresses torture, not Plame...

On all of these posts on Plame, you could take every section that quotes Johnson out of the news article and it would not change the facts of the case. I was unable to find any reference or cite to Johnson's own reporting on the matter... he was a quote machine for reporters.

I guess the hilarious part must be in those posts by et.al.?
