Thanks for the intelligent post, Mrs. JB. Very nice. Frankly, I don't understand why we've got this thread, but I guess it allows venting for some folks. I haven't seen anything to refute the original article or address why a solid publication that could hardly be called liberal like the Army Times would make this stuff up.

The Pentagon is spinning what it hopes will be a way out of the mess it created for itself and the Administration... a mess that should never had occurred. These service men and women, and their families, deserve more than what is due to be cut.

It remains to be seen what the Pentagon's "plan" amounts to. I haven't read one thing that refutes the fact that they want the extra pay to return to it's previous level. Our military and their families are left in the dark, as usual.

They deserve more pay, better benefits and proper housing for their families. We can afford it and they should get it. The country is in danger from more than this reckless Administration. Those that wish us destruction and are working to bring it about are most afraid of one thing. These people in uniform.

Major unleashes the beat down and the pansies TJ and xxx RUN SCARED down to the gym to pump each other.

    rah rah and stuff.

ps, hurry back girls. You are both ridiculous, but the ignore links amuse me. Besides, Major will be flattered by the backtracking you both attempt to pull off.

Uh, no. The liberals in question are the democratic candidates who have grilled our president on this. The question is not about whether the newspaper is liberal.

Nice try though. Yet another swing and a miss, this time by Major and Achebe.

I was thinking about this the other day and it's just amazing. From blowing off Kyoto to the Iraq invasion it's been like a long nightmare. The damage being done to our country is just staggering.

Kyoto.... What a joke. If Kyoto had passed, you probably wouldn't be too happy with your $1,000/month electricity bill. The US produces half of its power using coal. Coal is CHEAP, since the US is the Saudi Arabia of coal. The countries backing Kyoto do not rely as heavily on coal for their power production, and would have an easier time complying with the protocol. In the US, the costs to retrofit coal plants with pollution control equipment would have been *staggering*. It currently costs roughly $100M to retrofit a 300MW coal-fired plant with an SCR, which limits the NOx emissions. NOx is only one of many greenhouse gases that you would need to examine. And there are thousands of plants out there...

That was, in fact, something the republicans helped our nation with. Thanks for bringing that one up, Timing. The Clear Skies act passed by Bush will go a long way to clean up the air, without the enormous harm to the economy that would have resulted from Kyoto.

Dude, if you think these guys are liberals, you've been listening to too much Rush Limbaugh. Dean is the only one of the "critics" who can even spell liberal. The rest of them are Republicans in Democrat clothing.

If YOU looked at their records (instead of regurgitating what the corporate media puts in your trough), you'll see that these guys are just as big of whores as your Republican heroes.

And that moron in the White House has not been grilled by anyone. ANYONE. He has enjoyed a three-year free pass by the Republican lapdog media. Since Congressional Democrats are too spineless to speak up, Bush hasn't been asked a single difficult relevant question -- we've been brain-washed into thinking that questioning the President is unpatriotic.

Pretty convenient for a guy who has lied about the energy policy, environment, war, trade policy, economic policy, corporate influence -- hell, just about everything except getting a blowjob from an intern.

Republican control of Senate - check

Republican control of House - check

Republican control of Presidency - check

Republican control of military - check

How can it NOT be the President's fault?

What's left to argue here people? Nothing. A liberal rag, such as the SF Chronicle, came out with a error-riddled article filled with baseless accusations against the Pentagon. The Pentagon and other major media outlets successfully debunk the accusations and expose the authors as liars. While the liberal sheep herd was quick to jump on this story and use it to advance their negative propaganda campaign against the Bush Administration, they were once again proven to be liars. Voters have recognized this for a while now, contrary to the liberals blind perceptions.

I find it indicative of the overall state of politics here in the United States. The Democrats' arguments become more outlandish by the day, as their frustration with being voted out of power continues to grow. Desparate people do desparate things -- like inventing lies in order to advance their negative agenda. The liberals are desparate right now. No one is listening, so they have no other choice but to ratchet up the level of sensationalism and outrageousness in hopes of finding an audience. Sad, really, that they have regressed this far.

TJ, you've been recycling the same unfunny post for about four or five days now. When my electricity came back on yesterday, I thought it would be over, but you are still writing the same silliness about liberal desperation.

Somebody as intelligent as you pretend to be should either be creative enough to come up with something new or realize that the house lights are on and you should take your act to another venue.

TJ -- I didn't find the SFChron article to be "error-riddled". They claimed that the Pentagon doesn't want Congress to re-up the immenent danger and family separation pay increases. This is true as reported by the follow-up article.

The fact that the Pentagon now says it will make up the pay difference in other ways doesn't make the original article wrong. And, as I previously noted, the Pentagon does admit that our soldiers in other parts of the world will end up with a net pay loss. So I don't think either side has any reason to gloat here.

Let's remember that Glynch's original post said that BUSH was cutting their salaries! LOL! If Jorge is Ann Coulter then I guess Glynch is Michael Moore.

This reminds me of the article that claimed that Wolfowitz said the war was all about oil, but then they had to retract it a few days later.
