WisPolitics: Protestors Storm GOP Victory Center in West Allis 10/6/2004 The Republican Party of Wisconsin hasn't decided whether to press charges against protestors who stormed the RPW office in West Allis Tuesday. RPW spokesman Chris Lato said the protestors, who covered themselves in Kerry/Edwards stickers and waved campaign signs, were "clearly trespassing" and that the party has considered heightening security at the West Allis location. "This was clearly a form of harassment and it went on for, what I'm told, almost 30 minutes," Lato said. The group was reportedly there to demonstrate over the Bush administration’s failure to provide workers with overtime benefits. more->http://www.wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=24901 .
I can't wait until I hear how Rove was behind these. lol Seriously this election/country is so polarized I'm more worried about after the election than anything happening between now and then.
We haven't even heard how Democrats were behind them. This country is polarized, and much of it is very angry. This country isn't necessarily close to a revolution or anything of that sort, but violent protests, and possible rioting don't seem out of the realm of possibility should there be questionable doings and outcomes of this election. It's too bad that a lot of guard units are over seas.
Karl Rove is responsible for all of the post- WWII tragedies that have afflicted our nation - JFK in Dallas, Vietnam, The Daily Show, etc.
Misleading thread title. How exactly is a group of nut jobs that might possibly by linked to the democratic candidate committing isolated acts "crushing dissent"? The best example of crushing dissent has come from people with messages on T-Shirts being arrested, people being asked to sign pledge cards, etc. That is authority getting involved in shutting down a nonconforming message, ie crushing dissent. Your thread title should have been "left wing nut jobs get busy" or something to that effect. At least it would have been more accurate.
I would not begin to accuse Rove of these, and I'm not even sure these were done by Democrats either. But please don't like Rove has never done anything before. Rove got caught bugging his own office, and trying to blame it on an opposing campaign's organization. It's not like charges against Rove were brought up out of the blue. Rove was also responsible for push polling that was false and slanderous against John McCain in 2000. When people bring up the possibility of Rove doing things, it's not some wild conspiracy case that could never happen. Rove has done those kinds of things repeatedly in the past, and that is the kind of person running the Bush/Cheney re-election effort. But the idea of Bush supporters being sarcastic about the idea that Rove could do something like the offensive flyers, or leaking fake documents to Rather isn't out of the realm of anything Rove hasn't already been known for doing in the past. If there were a rash of robberies on a certain street, and it was known that a twice convicted robber were living on that street, would it not be worth bringing up the possibility of a connection? It doesn't mean the twice convicted robber is guilty, but it wouldn't be a wild conspiracy theory worthy of sarcastic derision, if others mentioned the possibility that the robber was involved.
Don't know if this was mentioned or if anyone outside of NM heard about it. Cheney came to speak at a local high school maybe a month ago and the Republicans were so afraid of a large contingent of Democrats making a scene they required anyone who wanted tickets to sign a form pledging their support for Bush and the Republican party. Imagine you can't go and hear your Vice President speak unless you agree you support Bush. At a local Democrat rally where Kerry was speaking a group of Republicans brought flip-flops and made gerogatory remarks. Kerry asked them to speak their minds and then addressed their concerns. Also two people were arrested locally for wearing anti-bush shirts (Bush with his name crossed out) at a Republican rally. Yes arrested taken away in handcuffs, even though they were not making a scene or disrupting anything. God forbid we'd be allowed to listen to the views of an opposing party without fear of reprisal.
Actually, it's not both for the reasons elucidated above, and because "dissent" generally implies the sentiment expressed by one or ones not in power in opposition to those who are. Now, Guanaco, silence, or I shall crush you betwixt my thumb and forefinger.
And now the media wing of the Democratic Party. http://www.thenationaldebate.com/blog/archives/2004/10/cnn_takes_legal.html
Gotta agree. GWB in a landside. No reason at all for the Republicans to show up at the polls. Why bother?
LOL! Check this out... The poll found that Bush receives 50 percent of the likely vote while Kerry gets 47 percent. Independent Ralph Nader is at 1 percent. Days before the first debate on Sept. 30, Bush held a six-point lead among likely voters. Among all registered voters, Bush leads by a single percentage point in the latest poll. In 13 battleground states the race is also tight, but it is Kerry with the lead, 50 percent to 46 percent. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42984-2004Oct18.html Keep D&D Civil!!
Damn liberal press! They must have not fact checked the article and got Kerry and GWB results mixed. I stand by my statement that GWB will win in a landisde. Republicans do not even need to bother with voting. It is a lock
Well, I'm sure Democrats won't be complaining about the Electoral College this time if they win because of this!
