When it comes to political analysis, yes! I see you've started your self-medication early today.

    Daniel Okrent on Paul Krugman:

"Op-Ed columnist Paul Krugman has the disturbing habit of shaping, slicing and selectively citing numbers in a fashion that pleases his acolytes but leaves him open to substantive assaults."

Yet we almost never see any substantive assaults on his columns. Instead people resort to personal attacks and call him names.

And yet dispite the claim there is a lack of substantive rebuttal of Krugman.

Krugman (pronounced with a long U) was born and grew up on Long Island, and majored in economics (though his initial interest was in history) as an undergraduate at Yale University. He obtained a Ph.D. from MIT in 1977 and taught at Yale, MIT, UC Berkeley, the London School of Economics, and Stanford University before joining the faculty of Princeton University, where he has been since 2000. From 1982 to 1983, he spent a year working at the Reagan White House as a member of the Council of Economic Advisers. He is also a member of the international economic body, the Group of Thirty.

When Bill Clinton came into office in 1992, it was expected that Krugman would be given a leading post, but he was passed over in favor of Laura Tyson primarily due to the administration's early flirtation with industrial policy.

    ________________________________________________________________

Why do you feel the need to lie?

Krugman worked for the Reagan White House and was passed over by Clinton. He is a distinguished economist who has taught for some of the most prestigious schools in the world.

At least you can admit that when it comes to political analysis, you are deluded.

I started taking the only "medication" that I ever take at about the same time as I do every day. I need to have my caffeine or I get hostile.

Despite these links there is still a lack of substantive rebuttal. I'm not sure what to say about somebody who rebuts a claim of making ad hominem attacks and dodging issues by making more ad hominem attacks.

I think the fact that we've devolved into this, by the way, says a lot about all of the intellectual food for thought that Barone has given us; the "you hate america" song and dance is quite possibly the worst development in politics over the last 100 years.

That addresses the topic of the thread you started? Or PK's opinion on the same subject?

    No, there's not.

Yeah, as evidenced by the substantive debate you have put forth on this board.

I know you will just run away like t_j did, but I will be happy to have a structured, judged debate with you anytime and will happily allow you exclusive use of my sig (with the exception of the first line) for an entire year if you win.

    Now run away, little boy.

Judged by whom - the overwhelmingly liberal people who frequent this board?

TJ probaly got tired of being outnumbered 20-1. Maybe I'll get tired too, At some point, I'll probably get bored with all the gang-mauling by the moonbats.

You pick a judge, I pick a judge (I'll designate a conservative), and we agree on one.

We each pick a topic and each of the judges picks one.

We agree on what the opening statements should consist of, the number of allowed rebuttals, the time limits for replies, and the format for cross examination, then we debate.

Curiously, within a board called "debate and discussion" I don't think I've ever seen gwayneco debate or discuss. He posts some inflammatory article, refuses to comment on it personally, bashes all who express alternative opinions or factual errors, engages in creative insults, and then reaches back to his paranoid, fearful roots and claims he is outnumbered and a victim of "liberal media".

In short - he provides nothing of interest, stimulates no intellectual conversation, pollutes the position he (supposedly) is supporting with caustic rhetoric, and has now regained a position on my ignore list.

I guess that'll make me an elitist liberal terrorist-lover, but I think I'll cope.
