Its definitely in danger but Tim Johnson's retirement really wasn't anything significant. He was going to face a tough fight regardless of whether he stayed in the race. The good thing in South Dakota is that they have a good bench and if Stephanie Herseth Sandlin runs, it will be a close fight. (She also has the added benefit of being one of the Democrats in the house that voted no on the Affordable Care Act) Plus if current Rep. Kristi Noem ends up winning the nomination in South Dakota, that sets up a rematch of the 2010 US Congressional race (Provided Herseth-Sandlin runs) and Kristi Noem's approval ratings are way below Herseth-Sandlin's.

The road is definitely daunting for Democrats but Republicans will have to run a clean sweep of the competitive races. But some of the races (Alaska, Montana and North Carolina) aren't gimmes at all for Republicans.

I think the Democrats will take some clear losses but the odds are still good that they hold. Republicans have to pick up 6 Senate seats to take control which is a tall task for any year.

If they were to lose the Senate, the Republicans still couldnt repeal Obamacare. By the time that Congress would take office (Jan 2015) Obamacare would be fully implemented for a year. Plus, Obama would veto anything Congress would pass affecting Obamacare. Trying to take something from people that is benefitting the many....would be a BAD ting.

The healthcare bill is just another way for liberals to expand governmental power - they don't care about giving people healthcare; it is just a tool. The Congressional Budget Office, the Hill’s nonpartisan scorekeeper, estimated that the health care law would reduce employment by about 800,000 workers and result in about 7 million people losing their employer-sponsored health care over a decade. The CBO also estimated that Obamacare during that period would raise health care spending by roughly $580 billion.

What personal motive would someone like Obama have to purposely decrease employment and expand governmental power? This is one argument I never understand with conservatives. The issue of motive. Obama will be paid the same presidential salary and will have the same 2 term limit as any other president. So when people like you say stuff like "it's just a tool" for them to achieve their underlying motive to expand the federal government into a totalitarian regime I ask where is the motive? What benefit would Obama have when he accomplishes your view of his goals for American? He finishes his term within 3 years and then what?

You can disagree with the approach or philosophy that Obama has when it comes to governing but questioning motive is plain silly. He wants what's good for America as much as you and as does former president Bush even though I disagreed with many of his decisions.

right, brilliant electoral strategy. Let's plunge the country into recession to get 2% of the population to lean Democrat.

Republicans have nothing to gain from repealing Obamacare. It is far more useful as a rallying cry to get voters. Like the whole abortion issue.
