Terrific stuff! I really enjoyed the Flashman series. Fraser is a trip. Didn't he write the screenplay for Richard Lester's great (IMO) remake of The Three Musketeers? (1973) It has an unbelievable cast... Oliver Reed, Michael York, Richard Chamberlain, Faye Dunaway, Raquel Welch (one of her best roles... surprisingly good), Simon Ward, Christopher Lee, Charlton Heston. It's one of those flicks I always watch when it comes on late at night, and I can't get to sleep, anyway. You can tell everyone had a great time doing it, and the actors dive into their parts with relish.

Libby wrote his novel in 1996....It‘s described as the story of a young Japanese who runs remote mountain inn and gets caught up in a world of intrigue.

Well, there‘s intrigue and then there‘s, well, bestiality. There‘s a lot of bestiality in Mr. Libby‘s novel....

Now, I don‘t want to leave the wrong impression here, this is not just a book about bestiality. There‘s also incest and let‘s call them wooden prosthetic devices, and sex between women and fox spirits, which, despite the implications here, have nothing to do with FOX broadcasting, as near as we can tell.

So this is a book for all readers, not just those interested in one kind of deviant behavior, right?...

Artists and actors and satirists and newscasters are all quick to remind us, hey, just because I played this part and created this character, read the story, that doesn‘t mean I am them. But how much insight does a novel really give us into the psyche of the author? I mean, does this explain anything?

Now we have beaten the hell out of Libby for this, and deservedly so. If a Democratic White House official had written this book, his head would be on a pike somewhere.

You don't understand fiction. Webb didn't portray the incident as something positive in the book. It was something negative. So while it is a made up incident, it was meant to show the BAD that happens. I don't see how showing pedophilia in a negative light is in anyway defending pedofilia. Nor was it child p*rn.

All you are doing is showing your own lack of understanding of what fiction is. As someone else pointed out, anyone who writes a murder mystery is glorifying murder. Your logic is so completely screwed up.

I will defend children reading Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater too, but that doesn't mean I am defending kidnapping, slavery, or imprisoning females. Maybe one day you will understand how it all works.

It is ok. TJ is showing that is ineptitude with understanding even the basic concept of fiction, imagination vs. reality, and literature is as grand as his ineptitude of politics.
