It used to be said that the country will never go to war without the solid backing of the people, but Republicans have inverted that meaning. They stand with their party, even if it means standing against the interests of America.

Oh, and that's a nice bit of baiting there on the last line. Classy.

So TJ and basso are you going to call the majority of Americans traitors and unsupporting of the troops?

Seems the majority of Americans agree with Reid's statement.

    USA Today poll, March 5:

Which comes closer to your view about the war in Iraq?
    Definitely win: 11%.
    Probably win: 17%.
Can win, but don't think will win: 20%
Do not think it can win: 46%

    CNN poll, March 13:

Do you think the U.S. can win or cannot win the war in Iraq?
    Can win: 46%
    Cannot win: 46%

Washington Post/ABC News poll, April 16:

Will U.S. win or lose the war?
    Lose: 51%
    Win: 35%

    Rasmussen poll, April 16:

Thirty-three percent (33%) of American voters believe that history will ultimately judge the U.S. mission in Iraq a success. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 50% of Likely Voters believe the mission will be deemed a failure.

What about all the Democrats in Congress that also authorized the decision to go to war? Without the liberals' incessant negativity and undermining of the campaign with anti-US propaganda, the terrorists' strategy of making the news with homicide bombings wouldn't work. So in other words, the terrorists have crafted a strategy which takes full advantage of the liberals' desire to have this war be a failure. Hope you boys are proud of that.

No liberal has a desire for this war to be a failure. Reporting facts does not equal desire to fail.

Oh, that's right, logic isn't your strong suit. Neither are facts.

Equating Hitler with our situation today...with anyone, anything...is a typical copout.

Of course, Johnny Cochran used the comparison to Mark Fuhrman to help keep his client out of jail, so maybe it works.

I don't even know if George W. believes his own B.S. Saddam tried to kill his dad, his oil buddies make tons of money from Iraq's reserves, we destroy a country that Halliburton gets paid to rebuild, our country sold Iraq some nasty weapons awhile back (or not so long ago) that were never found (chemical and whatnot).....but he gives the tired old story about bringing freedom to Iraq, while civil liberties and voting irregularities and preemptive wars seem to be OK for our own country.

But TJ, you drank the Kool-Aid, and still you live on. More power to you.

"Somehow back at home, support for the soldiers meant having a five-year-old kindergartener scribble a picture with crayons and send it overseas, or slapping stickers on cars, or lobbying Congress for an extra pad in a helmet. It’s interesting that a soldier on his third or fourth tour should care about a drawing from a five-year-old; or a faded sticker on a car as his friends die around him; or an extra pad in a helmet, as if it will protect him when an IED throws his vehicle 50 feet into the air as his body comes apart and his skin melts to the seat."

From Remember the Alamo to Remember the Rug, Texas should disown him. I'll pitch in to help buy him a ranch in Oklahoma or somewhere

    Gee

Look who else agrees with Reid --

Kissinger says military victory not possible in Iraq

The Associated PressPublished: April 1, 2007

TOKYO: Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who helped engineer the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam, said Sunday the problems in Iraq are more complex than that conflict, and military victory is no longer possible.

He also said he sympathizes with the troubles facing U.S. President George W. Bush.

"A 'military victory' in the sense of total control over the whole territory, imposed on the entire population, is not possible"...
