Nice article - too bad he mentioned 29 specific policy proposals.

You seriously prefer the policies of George W. Bush? The man who gave us record growth in the size of the Federal government, record growth in the size of the Federal deficit, record growth in the size of the trade deficit, assaulted our civil liberties, promoted torture... you seriously find that to be a "conservative philosophy?" Wow. John McCain promises more of the same. I can't imagine someone wanting more of the policies of this failed administration, which was anything BUT conservative, in my opinion.

He said by investing $150 billion over the next 10 years in alternative power sources like wind, nuclear, clean coal & biofuels. I literally clapped my hands out loud on that one. It's about time!

If Obama wins it, in 2012 the Republicans will want to reclaim office badly because of all the tax breaks and prosperity.

Could this be what the Aztecs predicted thousands of years ago?

Obama seemed somewhat more conservative than the typical liberal stuff I've seen thrown out.

He talked about paying for his programs and how would do so. He talked about going through every budget line and by line, and cutting out programs that don't work anymore while making the programs that do work more efficient and less wasteful. He also talked about tax cuts for 95% of the working families in the nation.

I guess some people are willing to take that "10%" of a chance on change from Bush's non-conservative policies.

One thing that I noticed he definitely tried to stress was his willingness to reach out to Hillary voters, and take up the causes that so many of them cared so much about.

I love how the Republicans are claiming that they're the ones victimized by negativity.

Has McCain aired an ad where he's spent more time talking about why he should be president instead of why Obama shouldn't? Has McCain even aired an ad that didn't attack his opponent at all? Obama has. Who's being negative again.

I think Obama gave the right level of detail - nothing new really from what he has said before, but all put together in one place. You can't get into much more detail in a stump speech. It's better to be addressed in the debates.

There's plenty of time to talk about policy details - which rarely is what people are interested about - but more about what policies they will take.

I think Obama will have to respond adroitly next week to the Republicans smear campaign against him - it's coming for sure.

He should just run ads about his site that dismisses the republican attack and shows how they are all lies.

That was truly, truly remarkable. He hit every note. I am so proud to be a Democrat tonight. And so proud to be an American.

People need to stop saying this.

    McCain is Bush on Steroids.

McCain isn't more of the same, McCain is worse.

okay, aside from the deaf haters

did anyone hear he said he would support nuclear energy. loved the katrina line, that's what dems out to hit them over the head with, oh yeah, and we never found bin laden, he probably died without being brought to justice. thanks george bush

other specifics I heard, hire more teachers, bill clinton promised to hire more cops to bring crime down, it worked. he talked about his plan for tuition for kids who volunteered. he talked about health care, he talked about focusing on Afghanistan, what more do you haters want. its a speech, not his budget

I'm wondering what part of the eliminating capital gains tax for small businesses and start-ups that Faos did not understand and requires more specifics on - in the context of a stump speech.

I'm also wondering what level of "specificity" that John McCain gives on this in his speeches.

Faos do you have an answer?

What exactly were you expecting? He delivered as much on the policy front as is palatable for a speech of this nature on this platform. I'm really confused by this argument.
