Yeah, if he had speeches like that 4 years ago he'd be running for re-election right now...

Uh, no. The Democrats would be shoe-ins to lose the election because Edwards would be the VP.

Though Edwards' affair was in 2006, so who really knows what would have happened. You'd hope that after Clinton, and knowing that he'd be the Presidential frontrunner in 2012, he'd have been smart enough as VP to not do something quite that stupid. But you never know.

Well, you'd think he'd know he'd be running in 2008, so who knows? :)

I actually liked John Kerry's speech in '04 but wasn't too impressed with Obama's.

It's a shame that you didn't get to see the two speeches one after the other (well, you were lucky that you missed the 3 star general who sounded like she was a retired grade school teacher... if I have the sequence right). Clinton, of course, was superb, but Biden's speech was incredibly emotional. The introduction by his son, Beau Biden, left many in the convention hall in tears and Joe Biden was clearly choked up when he came on the stage and embraced him.

I was hoping Joe would uncork a good speech, but he exceeded my expectations by a heck of a lot. He had a couple of mixups during the speech which were very minor and were things he knew and just misspoke. One was saying that the generals in Afghanistan were calling for 2 more combat battalions, when in fact they want 2 more combat brigades. There is a big difference between the two and Biden knew that. His point that Bush's adventure in Iraq (my words) had hurt our effort in Afghanistan was a good one. The whole speech, IMO, clearly showed why he was a good choice as the VP nominee.

John Kerry (!! !!), President Clinton, and Joe Biden really delivered the goods!

^It's apparently even better than it looks.

I'm no math whiz but someone on kos calculated that in order for the three day poll to go from where it was to a 6 point advantage it would have taken a one night advantage of 16 points. I'd love it if someone here would try to verify or debunk that math, but either way it's clear that Tuesday night scored big with respondents to the Gallup poll.

Kerry/Clinton/Biden's speeches were said AFTER the new Gallup poll was taken. :)

Yep. That was all in response to Hillary's speech. And she had another great moment during the roll call. Today's respondents should favor Obama even more.
