    Menendez convicted

And not a single national elected Republican leader says anything about it

because they - from flopsweat yowlers like Steve Bannon and Alex Jones - to ultra prim stick up the asses like John Roberts - have declared undying fealty to a literal criminal who hopes to destroy the country.

Only like the 395th most disturbing thing today - but man how ****ed up is it that a democratic senator can bury gold bars and Republicans are to afraid to talk about it

Not much to talk about. He seems to be the only one proclaiming innocence. It will make a good movie one day.

Do you think elected offiicals who give, take & induce bribes & extortion should remain in office, or should they be removed & prosecuted?

Definitely prosecuted. And if guilty they should be removed.

New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez set to resign on Aug. 20 after being convicted on federal bribery charges (msn.com)

NEW JERSEY -- Sen. Bob Menendez will resign effective Aug. 20. This comes a week after he was convicted on federal bribery charges.

Menendez had previously refuted reports that he was going to step down, but his resignation letter was read in the Senate chamber on Tuesday afternoon by presiding Sen. Peter Welch, a Democrat from Vermont.

Menendez had been facing intense pressure to resign from fellow Democrats, who threatened to call for a vote to expel him had Menendez refused to do so. Gov. Phil Murphy and Sen. Cory Booker were among those who called on Menendez to step down. In fact, New Jersey Democrats had been calling for Menendez to resign ever since he was indicted in September 2023.

I think we're beyond that. Present corruption statutes need serious overhauls to counter an activist scrote court. A congressman taking a bribe during an official meeting should be a slam dunk and not be a motion to dismiss or force a mistrial.

It's not really upon Congress to force them to police themselves...
