dude, you kept insisting by implication that muslim states oppress non-muslim in order to justify israel's limitations on arab rights. i asked for a list. you gave a list in which you backtracked from your previous assertions for the most part and asserted a number of more limited allegations. a few of those i agreed with. many i thought were hogwash. but instead of addressing my comments...you reply whining about how you shouldn't have to post your sources, and that you don't care to reply to my comments. which is fine, its your prerogative. but if that is the case, i don't care to respond with more.
As an Israeli, I think there should be a ban against any member of the parlament, who demonstrate against the existance of their own country. There are only two arab parties that are being banned, and only "Balad" do not recognize Israel right to exist. Other Arabs can be a member of the parlament. I think Tibis's party shouldn't be ban because he doesn't support violance against Israel , but "Balad" definetly should. What will the US goverment do if any political group would have worked with the enemy during the war? Some of Balads' members called to increase the number of attacks on Israely cities, and some of its followers were caught by the Shabac trying to form "terror cells" funded by Iran and Hizballa.
Ah and about the discrimination, Israeli Arabs get cheap health insurance and subsidized medical care (much better then the expensive one you get in the US) and they gladly use it. There is obviosly discrimination and it should be fixed over time (There is also discrimination against black people and the goverment tries to fix it, but everything is corrupted and slow). On the other hand, quite a big part of them refuse to pay taxes and to obey laws... Israel is still a relatively young nation, and even older democracies are still fighting discrimination against minorities.
I have been to Sharm El Sheikh twice in recent years and seen topless women on the beaches there all the time and I have heared in it the same in Hurghada, and Arish.
Thanks for the insight. The US government would definitely not tolerate such activity. People are simultaneously being hypocritcal and holding Israel to an impossible standard here.
But are we holding the Palestinians to an impossible standard too? Yes as Americans we wouldn't tolerate Mexicans lobbing rockets at us. At the sametime would we accept Mexicans limiting our movements, economically blockading us, building settlements on our territory, and assasinating our leadership? This country was founded in a revolution against a governemnt that was considered out of touch and seen as an occupier even though those who fought it were largely ethnically and religiously the same. If you read the list of justifications in the Declaration of Independence for why the Founders felt it was right to break off from the English those are far less severe than what the Palestinians have dealt with. Neither side has a monoply on righteousness in this conflict.
