I don’t see any issues with what he says, how can the team not improve if they fire everyone and bench the best players? Seems like an obvious fix!
To me, if you’re not counting last season, then it’s even worse. You’re judging the worth of a coach off 3 games where his team is 2-1.
So basically he FAR exceeded expectations last year, and after 3 games this year he is not meeting the much higher expectations? while I agree with that, I’m not ready to create whole threads for it just yet..
Im glad that you agree. However, the reason I made this thread is to emphasize how thus far Demeco has been like all of the other coaches we have had in yrs past....AVERAGE. Demeco's tenure is not finish, so he has an opportunity to distinguish himself from the other coaches from the past. Tunsil is a veteran, team captain and the highest paid player on the team. Playing the way he did on Sunday w/o any repercussions can set a bad tone going forward. At a minimum, he should have stated we expect more from our players, especially our captains.
OP, you are a fool. It's one game as many others have said. Now granted, they haven't started out the year in exactly impression fashion. I'm not terribly impressed with even 2-1. However, Demeco is a damn good coach and it's barely 3 games into year 2. Demeco gets a pass from his performance as coach in year 1, so I'll give him some time to tweak things and get us humming along again. (I hope we will be humming along, anyway, lol. I think that's more to do with the talent on the field than Demeco).
Why do I have to be a FOOL? Because I expect more? I expected them to be 2-1 at this stage, however I thought their first lost would be against Indy and not Minnesota. And I guess you all are insinuating I'm referring to Demeco's record. I'm not, its holding the player's performance accountable, especially your captains. Why you think Andy Reid play Mahommes during the Pre-Season? why you think Bill Belichick played his starters and Tom Brady during the Pres-Season? So that they don't hurt you when the regular season begins. To me that "C" on a jersey means something! And the coach should hold him to that standard
Texans didn't just lose, they got blown out. The 2 games we've won were near-losses. Maybe something changes going forward, but currently, the Texans look like pretenders.
So other teams coaches do research on the officiating crew and their tendencies but Demeco thinks "if we play good enough we don't need all that". I don't like that answer. Why would you not try to get every advantage you can? It doesn't take much to look it up. Demeco and Co. came out nice and polite while the Vikings coaches came out prepared and out for blood and it showed on the field.
No longer alive. Had family on both sides that came to the States years ago. Donegal and Dublin, though my Mom says someone in her family (I forget who) was from Cork.
Sure, Tunsil didn't have a false start on yesterday but he had three key holding penalties that stalled drives. Even CJ is saying, they need to STOP making penalties. It's becoming a problem. I think if Demeco made an example out of Tunsil last week, by sitting him down for a game or two, it would have gotten EVERYBODYS attention!
Along with fixing the constant penalties, Demeco needs to work on his clock management on two min drives.
I think part of this slow start and the mental aspect of penalties ties to not playing preseason anymore or in Tunsil`s case do anything at camp so in reality these first 4-5 games are the preseason, Jets has the same issue yesterday. No continuity yet on the O Line........hopefully were building up and start peaking at the right time
