Crazy. Like Clutch said on page 1, "AD and Cousins on the same team. In our division." Never would have guessed that this deal with New Orleans, of all places, would get Cousins.
If i were New Orleans now, I would be looking to maybe extend/resign Holiday now, and if he doesn't agree, trade him with picks and whomever else we can move for legit player at the 1,2 or 3 to build with Boogie and AD. If they can get another high level player, not superstar, they can build from there and be dangerous. They just have to understand how to build a bench, and pick the right low lying fruit that teams miss or pass on all the time because they are so focused on their starters. Imagine if they got another very good player at the SG or SF position, and then CP3 decided to go back there next year?
I don't think Cousins will ever be on a winning team. Just one of those players people will forever defend for losing. And I don't get why Davis doesn't want to play the five. He's the future of the position. Sacramento is a worse train wreck than the Knicks.
Sacramento wasn't gonna win whether DMC was there or not. So why commit 250 milli to a negative pouter? No one was coming in FA that would've made them a contender, so i would've traded his ass too. Now they can just focus on rebuilding without the headaches or the expectations.
Kings and Nets are the two worst run franchises in the league. Both driven off the cliff edge due to idiotic owners.
I don't get how another team was not willing to give them a better deal, especially those so close to becoming elite teams.
Wonder if the NBA is still running NO, j/k lol. Where is everyone who said you couldn't get a good player for a little of nothing. Ya'll had so much insight on these complicated NBA deals....haha
It's a different league now. Even a team with two elite bigs would barely make the playoff, but a team with two elite guards would become a contender.
I think people are underestimating the Pelicans deal and Twin Towers. These are two bigs that not only play both sides of the court, but that also have range with their shooting to space the floor. And as one tweet earlier mentioned, can possibly clear up 30 million in cap space for this summer. I will be watching to see if they make another major move before the deadline. They may not be finished. There are still some trades for them out there I think.
they could possibly recreate a better grizzlies team. holiday/cousins/davis > conley/gasol/randolph. if they can get a nice 3 and D wing they'll be much scarier this season - and they do have a couple pieces they can move for one. with that said, gentry is a pretty bad coach to me and they only have 20 games to figure out chemistry this season unless cousins signs an extension.
I think they could be better than the Griz too with AD/Cousins whether or not Holiday stays. If he won't sign an extension now, I would trade him for another long term piece now before losing him for nothing this summer. But Boogie, they have all this year and next year to gel with before risking losing him. Even if he doesn't sign an extension, as long as they are in playoff contention by the deadline next season, I think they hold on to him knowing they can offer the most money when he hits the market. I definitely think they need a new coach. I could see JVG coaching that team. Put some people like Marie Elie on his staff, they could make some noise with a couple more decent starters and a bench.
Or Garnett. Or Dirk. All of those guys were listed at 7 foot too and none of them wanted to play center.
